Yet I live just 5-10mins max away and no sign of fog here, saying that the course is at the top of a big a$$ hill

Yes same here. In Exeter all day not a sign of fog. Most surprised to get home to see the last 2 races were scratched. Perhaps I should have gone and followed the horses round for some in-play advantage ;)
