Hi,

I'm reasonably new to this, whats the significance of curley leisure horses?

Walshy,

Barney Curley the trainer/owner is a gambler who's horses usually either steam or drift more than others. If the money comes in people will get on the move & the horse will probably win.

Oh & I think he used to be a priest?

Massive drift, looks like all eyes should be on the 14:30 now.

Laid it at 4.8.... :D

Market opened on course, someone lit the blue touch paper and it shot off towards the stars

He kept the horse covered in the parade ring to stop paddock judges (bookies in particular) checking his condition :)

It's hard to judge from the TV pictures because you need to be there really but he looked fit enough to me. It seemed he was never going to win today as he drifted like mad and then was pulled up.

Always fun when Barney has a runner!! :D

I think it is quite funy how any Curley horse has become a self-fulfilling prophecy, much like a horse that plays up a little must drift

Think I might review the stats re Curley runners in Maidens - mush less for the Stable to go at in terms of market (compared to handicap) and could be a lay opportunity.

Either way Curley's horses are usually good fun and at least it's got us talking about something. ;)
