Hello Bet Angel enthusiasts.

I have a question about the 'placing bet' delay. To be clear, I am aware of the 8 and 1 second delay imposed by Betfair for football and racing, respectively.

My issue is that after I have waited 8 seconds, the counter stops flashing and counting down and turns red while it says 'placing bet'. This can sometimes stay that way for up to 5 seconds until the bet actually appears on the ladder or gets matched. That's a total of up to 13 seconds needed to confidently place a bet.

I should mention that I've only noticed this while betting on football, and that I'm trying out the trail version of Bet Angel Trader.

Why is there an extra delay here? I have bet on the same match (the Milan-Inter match on right now) using both Bet Angel and the Betfair website, and I only have to wait the required 8 seconds on the website before the bet is matched, whereas there is up to an additional 5 second delay using Bet Trader while it is apparently placing my bet.

What is Bet Angel doing for so long while it's performing this mysterious 'placing bet' operation, and why is this extra time not needed when using the Betfair website?

What is your bet size? If under £2 then it involves two bets, resulting in double the normal time.

Thanks for replying so quickly LinusP.

I've been making £1, £2 and £5 bets and have noticed that sometimes the extra delay occurs and sometimes it doesn't, so that might explain it. Unfortunately I can't remember on which bets the extra delay happened. I've also noticed the delay when greening up by laying small amounts, so you may be right about the £2 minimum bet limit.

Are you saying that when I bet £1, it waits in cyberspace until someone else tops it up to £2 before it can be placed? Because it does go through eventually when I bet only £1.

To be honest I have been assuming that Bet Angel somehow got round the minimum £2 bet limit and that I didn't need to worry about it any more when using it.

I'll try out another game using £2 or more bets and see if that sorts it out.

There's no extra delay when betting £2 or more. Apologies for my ignorance.
