If you don't like the thread then stop reading it! - there are plenty of "lay the draw" threads out there if you prefer those!

What's wrong with offering opinions on the contentious issues of the day?

The authoritarian left is trying to shut down debate all over the place and doesn't need any help from us.

Hi Frank

In this discussion, I've been all but called islamophobic, and your response to my politely worded point came across as quite abrupt and sarcastic (though maybe that wasn't your intention).

This discussion is beginning to resemble a Twitter argument between conservatives and liberals. What generally happens is that there is a lot of heat and very little light. People come away feeling angry, but don't have any added wisdom to show for their anger.

If you read up on the psychology of denial, people have so many unconscious defence mechanisms to protect their minds against the truth that your chances of converting a liberal are extremely small. Year in, year out, people continue lying to themselves (and it's not a left/right thing - it's an observation about human nature). We probably all know people who have set out to quit smoking or lose weight at the New Year, only to quickly succumb to the self-sabotaging voices in their head. This is probably why it's still possible to profit in the markets.

I'm guessing even if someone had a zen like mindset after 30 seconds of listening to this miserable pr1ck Watson's grating voice they'd want to inflict serious ultra violence on him

He has 1.2M youtube followers (of a comparatively young demographic) who'd seemingly disagree.

Me too! What a wonderful place it was then, where men were men and ladies were delicate and fragrant. Almost all children were also born within the security and stability of a married Mother & Father, who loved, nurtured and disciplined them. Any adult could tell off any child, without fear of being stabbed or worse!
Wow rose tinted glasses much?

Where men were men and women were delicate and fragrant? It would be interesting to hear a womans point of view on those times you seem so keen to return to, probably not remembered as fondly by the fragrant ones.

As for your family stereotype I've personally seen plenty of children come from this utopian dream who were neither nurtered or loved. On the flip side there are plenty of children with 2 dads or 2 mums who are loved, nurtured and probably just as importantly didn't grow up ignorant and are well balanced and open minded individuals.

Actually only sodomites/buggers were imprisoned as sodomy/buggery were outlawed here until 1967. Indeed, most of the Commonwealth nations and most of the Arab world STILL continue to outlaw this practice (and rightly so in the view of many). I could also start of the 'spareth the rod, spoileth the child' debate and how discipline and respect for authority figures has declined massively since the cane was banished from schools across the land, but I'll resist just this once, lol.
The first part of this paragraph I'm going to leave alone because I just dont have the words to be honest but as for harking back to the days of corporal punishment that is pretty indefensible. I dont have kids, but if I did I'd like to think I'm not so insecure as a man that I'd need to resort to physical punishment to 'earn their respect'.

I applaud the valiant attempts by some to wind this thread down but when Paul Joseph Watson is being put forward as a beacon of truth its safe to say the wheels have officially come off. This is the same Paul Joseph Watson who is a contributor to Alex Jones' Infowars. For those who dont know who Alex Jones is he's a conspiracy nut who believes among other things that the Sandy Hook school shooting never happened and all the grieving parent are paid actors, and oh yeah he also believes Michelle Obama is a man.

Peter - Can I suggest locking this thread, as it has turned into a Twitter style flame war?

I'm tempted to reply with a two word reply, but I won't lower myself to your level.

Who the hell do you think you are?

You realise you are dealing with real human beings?

How the hell would you feel if someone were to imply that you didn't think the Mayor of London was fit for his position because he was a muslim?

Wouldn't you be offended?

Paul Joseph Watson is an absolute disgrace. Moving to London and not even trying to fit in, that horrible Northern accent of his not doing himself any favours at all in this day and age, needs to learn to speak the modern multicultural accent, then we'll take him serious I'd imagine

You were engaging in cyberbullying.

Peter - If you ever manage to remove the trolls from the forum, drop me an email and I may start posting again.

I think its time to build a big moat around London and fill it with crocs. 1 in 1 out. O wait, that's 1,000 in 1 out.
