I think we both know Derek's intention is to bet on a race after the result is known not take some outside risk on a race he's just watched finish. All he's looking for is to take advantage of races where Betfair are too incompetent to manage the market properly as he's stated most of them get void but he gets lucky once in a while at some innocent punters expense, not Betfair's. All I'm pointing out is that if you want to set yourself up as some kind moral guardian maybe you need to start at home first before judging others.
And no doubt if you did you'd request Betfair void it as the result was known when the bet was placed and you couldn't possibly win

Of course I would, but so can the other guy, and he may well have done.
I don't want to set myself up as a moral guardian, I just give an opinion like everybody else.
I'm still interested to know what your morals are on the example I gave earlier regarding a lone horse left standing, being laid at 1.01, market in-play, layers cannot possibly win?

In that situation I'd prefer Betfair to suspend the market as the result is known at the point there's only one chase runner left standing. But I'm not a fan of people laying fallers or being able to back unobtainable score lines which Betfair could easily stop . There's a basic rule in gambling where if you can't win you can't lose but obviously that's not always upheld and also possibly unworkable for fallers in fast moving in running markets, doesn't make it right just because you're able to do it though, I wouldn't be lumping on.
Surely you can see my confusion in the mixed messages you send Derek? One minute it's bad to rip people off the next it's the aim of the game, as for false claims who knows but I'd guess someone buying the guy's crappy systems probably has more of a chance of winning than being on the end of one of your past post bets.
Selling isn't betting. The gap between wholesale price and retail price is the expense of production plus income for producing it. If either of those figures are overstated you are ripping the buyer off.
Betting just involves income for making a decision and the nature of the game involves aiming for as big a profit you can make. If you think a horse has a 3/1 chance, you're not going to say "I'll back it at 6/1 but I'm not taking the 10/1 available now, that's ripping off the layer"!

K, I'm much clearer now, it's OK to rip people off betting in situations where they have no chance of winning but not OK to 'possibly' rip people off selling them goods which may be of lesser value than advertised.
WTF do poker players do when they have a royal flush?
Do they fold because the other players have no chance of winning?
What if somebody raises their stake, do they show the other guy their cards and ask him to reconsider?
This is gambling SB.

What about matched betting, the innocent bookies can't win.
Free bets are offered in good faith and it's a breach of the bookies terms and conditions to cover the bet so you can't lose (they don't explicitly say with them). Nobody raises the moral issue with match bettors!
