Having a dreadful night tonight. I often get excited about big Aussie meetings as though the money's in the bank before I've even started trading,
Shame it hasn't been your night Derek, I am sure you will be back to normal tomorrow.

It feels to me since the MC the non Flemington markets have come alive with a lot of action. Pulling in some decent results to finish off the night.

Other than the Melbourne Cup Flemington has been a let down for me, I have done better on the other meetings.

How have others found Flemington other than the Melbourne Cup?

Did everyone call it a day after the Melbourne Cup? Gone dead in here since then.

I'm still going strong, but I'd imagine most would have quit after the MC

I'm about to call it a day, after the next at Ascot. I was just thinking how refreshing it is to hear a female commentator - I'm not even sure if I've ever heard a female call a race before!

Which commentary was that for Derek? There was a competition in the UK for female race callers a year or two ago which ATR's Hayley Moore won.

Knew Peter and Derek would still be about ;)

There have been some excellent markets away from Flemington tonight, that R6 at Ascot being a case in point, a huge move for the fav, though looking at Thursday there isn't much racing on other than Flemington so I am undecided yet if I will bother getting up for it.

I am going to call it a day as well now Derek so I can get some sleep before the UK racing.

Really enjoyed the night, it was good to have a few more people on the forum.

I just switched onto Sky radio, so I don't know what meeting it was - obviously a track I wasn't trading.

Sleep well - I think we all need it. ;)

I did as well out of the last three as if they were all G1 races. With the cup that was 90% of the days profit from four races.

I tried my best to set a PB on the cup itself getting set up well in advance but couldn’t do it from a profit perspective (I did from a turnover and bets matched perspective - but that proves I got it a bit wrong). So room for improvement on my part.

Well done, I struggled to get much out of those markets after the MC at Flemington but I found the non Flemington markets came alive after the MC and pulled in some good results there.

Shame you didn't quite pull in a profit PB on the MC but I am sure you did very well and made up for that 'minor' error the other day ;)

I did, I'd have struggled to remain alert if I stayed awake any longer, my results at Flem in the run-up to the MC got better each race but that slight lapse in concentration cost me in the MC.

I could have easily greened up fully on Cross counter and been out for a very good profit with a min or so to spare, but instead was dripping my orders out at the reverse price, with not much left to get matched I took my eye off it at just the wrong time - 10 secs later the money went and it crashed in and bang went a chunk of my profits in an instant.

I was also on the 2nd fav too and gained a few quid when that drifted suddenly at the same time so that helped soften it a bit for me

Hope everyone else did well and had a good night, day or morning depending on where you were

Following last nights losses, just to rub salt in the wounds, I had a terrible dream that my entire balance was exposed bar a few quid, the site went down, and needless to say, my maximum liability went in!

Tempted into the Flemington markets by the MC last night, I'm interested to know which (if any) of the Aus markets gets any volume on a normal night please ? Rather than serving my time and pulling a few all-nighters., I thought I'd ask all the hardcore folk on this thread who somehow don't seem to need any sleep ;-). Is it just the tracks that host Group 1 races that get any volume ? Does anyone have a course order list they'd be willing to share please to save me setting a bot to capture the data?

Many Thanks.

Sorry to hear that. Randwick and the other tracks are different on MC day. I used to think other tracks would behave like a Saturday but au contraire.

As to the nightmare always something in that to take away for the future.

Saturday is very different to all other days. And G1 races are generally different from other races.

For days other than Saturday you will need to be a low volume specialist.

What sort of stakes will you be using ?

Depends how much you are wanting to put thru the markets, the metropolitan tracks with the better racing tends to attract the most liquidity, more so during the “ carnival meetings “ I often stay up to trade the Aussie markets to small amounts and don’t find liquidity a problem , if your wanting to put large amounts thru , then at some meetings you will struggle .

Derek might be able to give you more info
