Looking to work up some cash using free bets and laying off on Betfair. Are there any guides on how to do this? Can i get an equal profit on both sides doing this?

Just something to be aware of - the odds you get offered by the bookmaker aren't always the odds that you'll get paid out on. As a result, what appears to be a free bet might not be.

Firstly, because of Rule 4 deductions, when another horse is withdrawn from the race. There will also be a deduction across the board on Betfair, but it might not be the same as that applied by the bookie.

And secondly, bookies can decide after you placed a bet that they made a mistake, and priced the horse too high. This is known as a palp. So if you see a horse that's 2/1 with a bookie, but 2.3 to lay on Betfair, personally I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole! :)

I hope this helps.

If you want a free bet this is a great option, but be careful as lots of these deals come with extra criterias such as roll over stake 2,3 or 6 times etc

I know where the free bets are I just want to know some of the maths behind it. Is it just like hedging on Betfair because bookies don't have commission?
