What??!!!
You might have to change your tune in a few months.
This might be as good as it gets for Remainers and the left.
What??!!!
I'd rather have decisions made by the great and the good considering the wellbeing of the nation than people deciding what's best for their own careers. 'Unelected' is used as a derogatory term but the principal behind it is that it enables frank debate elevated above personal agendas. I know the Lords have party affiliations (excl independents) but their voting record shows they're fiercely belligerent. 'Democracy', whatever the result, rarely delivers what's in the wider national interest as most people only vote for what suits their own personal situation.
He could be taken to court for not implementing a lawful bill of Parliament.ruthlessimon wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2019 7:21 pmIf it's law Boris has to ask for an extension - what happens if he refuses?

With respect that's nonsense. Who decides who are "the great and good"? The vast majority of Lords are political appointments and the system is abused. Blair for instance created 203 life peers during his time in office (Tony's Cronies they were nicknamed) and the Lords now has a left wing bent despite the Conservatives having been in office for roughly double the time of Labour in the last 50 years.ShaunWhite wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2019 6:29 pmI'd rather have decisions made by the great and the good considering the wellbeing of the nation than people deciding what's best for their own careers. We never agree on anything and never will so the fact we disagree about this isn't a surprise.
It would be no fun if everyone had the same opinion.ShaunWhite wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2019 8:45 pmWe never agree on anything and never will so the fact we disagree about this isn't a surprise.
Well, if he refuses to go back and ask for a deal as instructed to do so by Parliament then he could end up in court and prison. But he cant be taken to court and sent to prison if he goes back, asks for an extension and then veto's it because those are the rules under the European parliament as all 27 have to agree.
