I went through the form and looked at the odds and this stood out as good value. If I was to price it I would put it at 1.25 so 1.5 seemed to high not to back.spreadbetting wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2019 5:16 pmWhat changed your mind to betting on the game, other than a bit of aftertiming?JustLukeYou wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2019 5:08 pmAlso backed more than 0 goal in the first half which is the only thing I could see happening and that has won.

Where Am I Specifically Going Wrong With This Please?

Sports markets are tiny and money at advantageous prices doesn't stay there long. It's suppy and demand. A sports market is no different to any other marketplace, we're all just buying and selling (in this case buying and selling risk instead of toys)JustLukeYou wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2019 4:12 pmWhat the key reasons why people fail? Also just because it is competitive I don't understand how that influences how successful an individual person is. Running an ecommerce business is all about supply, demand and profit margin which is heavily influenced by the competition. How does the competition influence how much a trader makes?
Reasons for failure? Same as any other business really; poor money management, weak industry knowledge, insufficient initial investment, unrealistic expectations of the time it takes to become profitable, lack of original thinking, lack of commitment, failure to learn lessons from people who are successful and those who aren't, taking dubious advice at face value, lack of IT (the right software etc), entering the market without sufficient preparation, greed, realisation that it's bloody hard work and not just watching sport all day, psychology issues around short term profits or losses....... The list is endless.
It's also tough for people to obtain mortgages etc because trading income is non taxable and therfore not regarded as true income, you become a financial non-person and for young people especially that can have unforseen difficulties.
The biggest one though is people's inability to see the fundamental difference between trading and traditional gambling. Just because someone places a back bet and a lay bet it doesn't make them a trader, just a gambler who's had two bets.
I think you should split your profits with greenmark. You would never have looked at it if he hadn't drawn your attention to that game.JustLukeYou wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2019 5:19 pmI went through the form and looked at the odds and this stood out as good value. Too many conversations, too much info.
Luke you need to STOP for a week and absorb it The thing is that I guarantee you won't and that's why you have a massively increased risk of failure. More haste, less speed.

Yes you are right, I am planning to focus on specific teams like Paulo Rebelo said in one video. This will reduce the number of matches I am trading.ShaunWhite wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2019 5:25 pmToo many conversations, too much info.

Definitely need to focus on specific teams just not sure which markets to focus on or whether I just look for value.
I had a look at Parma and thought they would win. 3-0 up at half time

Not talking about anyone in particular. But those, in my view, are the key ingredients to failure.jimibt wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2019 5:18 pmnot quite sure i fully understand -what are you saying??Derek27 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2019 5:17 pmIf only 5% of people succeed, it means many people well above average ability will fail. That in turn means that people with zero understanding of trading who struggle to understand the basics after 200 questions, who demonstrate an inability to listen, learn or think for themselves and want everything explained to them in minute detail will have virtually no chance of success.JustLukeYou wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2019 4:12 pm

Backed either team to win 2-1 and still a few minutes left but traded out, will that be a mistake?

No Derek, have had some good results. Think the best I had was backing 6 for both teams to score.Derek27 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2019 6:17 pmBy your definition of a mistake, everything you do will be a mistake!JustLukeYou wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2019 6:14 pmBacked either team to win 2-1 and still a few minutes left but traded out, will that be a mistake?

Wasn't that a mistake though, not backing the correct score as well. After all, you knew what the score was going to be.JustLukeYou wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2019 6:18 pmNo Derek, have had some good results. That's what I mean by a mistake - making less than 400%.
