Hi,

In my humble opinion I think you should try and again but start small. On Smarkets the minimum bet is 5p. One great piece of advice I saw was "if you can't make a profit from £2 why are you bothering with £200".

Also, set up a spreadsheet and record everything that you are doing. You might find that you are very good with a specific league or country. For example, many people get carried with the mayhem and media saturation of Premier League and just assume that the top teams will always win so maybe try a specific league or event. You might also want to look into events that you can research. The research won't always predict the future but I have found that it often will.

All try to devise a specific strategy. For example, I have found that I am much better at identifying when a goal will be scored instead of when a goal won't be scored.

If you trade with pennies you can make mistakes and learn from them without any pressure.

Another point that I learning more about and trying to apply is that you need to go into an event with a plan and if that plan isn't work just bail out and keep your money.

Let's say for example you think Liverpool are going to spank Tottenham later today but in the first 10 minutes Liverpool are playing poor and misplacing passes just bail out and move onto the next match where Liverpool are playing how they typically play.
Thanks Luke, I appreciate the advice. It's a tough game and a pretty lonely one at times. I had a bad day yesterday and it was just one of those days where you're right but you just don't quite get the prices. This isn't a bad thing as it's part of my strategy but sometimes it can be frustrating when you just miss out on those goals. And I probably let that frustration get the better of me a bit. When I look at October as a whole I'm breakeven over 100 and odd trades, so I'm not doing awful, just feel like I've been spinning my wheels for a while. I've reacted to this by casting around looking for different ideas rather than knuckling down and refining what I'm doing. So I think I've learned my lesson and will look to renew and zero in my focus rather than spreading it too wide.

Thanks again

Duncan

Not sure I agree with that Luke but you could learn a thing or two from Duncan. For instance how to open a thread and how to properly reply to people in a polite and humble manner so I hope you're paying attention :)

Btw Duncan, there's nothing to be embarrassed about, a lot of very smart people have done all sorts of stupid things and based on this you haven't even done anything stupid really. Falling for some of those services like myself and many others have done is mostly because of ignorance and you can't kick yourself for that. I don't personally regret spending a few months paying for all sorts of subs to different services, it has definitely greatly accelerated the learning phase and that's what I was looking for. I was maybe looking to profit as well during all that but it would be way too greedy. With football you sort of need to sift through all the trash anyway to get to something that works so you might as well take a few shortcuts.

I'd also argue that experiencing a bigger loss here and there is also very helpful, you already know that winning is easy for everyone but it's the losing that people have a problem with. A trader is hardly a trader if he hasn't experienced big losses, that is something that is going to be very difficult for those risk averse people that keep playing around with practice mode or pennies for extended periods of time. And the longer someone gets stuck in that comfortable no-risk zone the scarier the real market gets and the more difficult it is to later trade it.

Hi sorry to jump in on this thread but I am a newbie and have just registered on the forum which I have been looking at the last 4 weeks. I am not good at this programing side at all but have been able to upload a couple of simple bat. Files from Dallas and I have tried to adjust to what I need but with little success. I am certain what I want can be done but I need help. If possible I was after placing a bet on the first 2no favs in a race but only if there is a 2pts difference between second and third fav. Can anyone help please?

Hi,

I am trading live football. I am still new but I am very pleased with how it is going. Psychoff and Paulo Rebelo trade live football and they have made a lot of money from it. Maybe millions.

Thanks for the encouragement Kai, and on reflection there's definitely something I've taken away from each of the places I've been at in my time.

Yes I've definitely had a few of those in my time! Thankfully the horse loss I mentioned at the start was by far the worse though.

Hi Keith

You can find information and threads on automation on the forum here: viewforum.php?f=37

There's also lots of videos on YouTube if you google 'Bet Angel Automation'.

If you search for the file by name on the forum you will usually find that the poster (most often Dallas) has given a description and answered a few questions in a thread.
