I actually did mean the FA, not EFL. I realise it, at the end of the day, is EFL's privy to set and move the date, but it's under the rule/supervision of the FA when push comes to shove. Liverpool is a member of the PL, not the EFL, so their complaint should be via the PL/FA to push the EFL on their behalf to make them comply.greenmark wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2019 10:18 pmYou mean EFl not FA. Can't see FIFA moving their fixtures.Kafkaesque wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2019 7:51 pmIt will certainly be interesting to see if it's possible to outthink the market in terms of exactly how weak the Pool lineup will be and how much effect having the majority of the staff away (I assume) will have.Kai wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2019 5:55 pmThis might make an interesting market : https://www.betfair.com/exchange/plus/f ... .164721533
Liverpool to play two teams on two continents in 24 hours : https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first- ... ston-villa
My initial thoughts are:
- No chance I'll be getting involved any time soon. Wouldn't put it past the FA to bend and make a different arrangement, even last minute.
- Best guess, the value will be in trading Villa pre, but the value will be with Pool at the closing price.
If the FA does pull something, does anyone know what the BF rules would be? I assumme, everything is void if it's postponed by more than 48 hours iirc the rules correctly. But if they play sooner, I'm not so sure.
Genuinely surprised EFL didn't see this coming and also are unable to react to it.
But its interesting as to which LFC will prioritise. Gut feel is they'll go for global publicity and roll out the youth team in the Carbaboa Cup.
Added to which, as a top player would you prefer to be in Qatar or England in December?
FIFA is always a fun and easy scapegoat, but like you say they won't move it. Nor should they. We can discuss whether the CWC should be just before or after the season (in a Euro-centric sense) instead of in the middle of it, but the order of priority and time for setting competetion is (and should be) FIFA < UEFA < FA/PL < EFL. The EFL shouldn't have planned the QF round here in the first place, the FA or (to a lesser extent) Liverpool should have caught it and flagged it as an issue long ago.
Klopp can talk about associations thinking about money more than footballers and clubs to his heart's desire. I don't though hear much complaining, when the club, which makes sure his own account is booming with money, decides to go globetrotting preseaon to commercial hubs, as oppossed to a more ideal preparation, including to the spiritual home of the guy signing his pay cheques.
This mess shouldn't have happened. Full stop. I mean, I knew it was coming in August, and that's just from caring a bit more than I probably should about Fantasy PL and doing a quick excel of potential postponements (to maximise usage of chips); not from running a multi multi million pound association or football club.
Speaking of which...anyone else doing the PL's official fantasy? And fancy a league? I know you guys are doing the super 6, but as I've mentioned before, i can't take part as a non-UK resident.
