Hello, apologies in advance - I'm very new.

I'm struggling with the simple task of placing a lay bet on the selection I've backed (any selection) - after the back bet has been placed.

I don't want to green up - just place the opposing lay bet (at a different time).

Here's the process I'm following

1. Place the back bet on any selection if "this happens" - success!
2. Place an equal amount lay bet on the selection triggered in rule 1 (fail)

cheers,
Steve

Is the lay bet to be placed a specfic time after as in a number of seconds later or just anytime the back has been matched?

Hi Dallas, thanks for the quick reply.

If the back bet is successful - I would hope to lay the selection at Current Market Price just before the jump. (so number of seconds after back bet has been matched)

cheers,
Steve

The easiest way would be to just use a 'Close trade on selection' rule
you wouldn't need to enter any stakes just the time you want it to trigger at

Thanks Dallas,

I've tried this a couple of times now. There is no opposing lay bet being placed into the market .

The log shows it triggers (close trade on any selection) but no lay bet has been placed?

thanks,
Steve

Was the back bet matched?
If not there would be nothing for it to close

Yes back bet matched - i used 3mins out to 30 secs before close

Close selection : trigger at 10 seconds before start time - nothing triggered (back bet left open)

Can you post your log?

If it triggered then it will have closed if a back bet was matched beforehand (assuming it's applied to the same selection as you back bet rule)
If it never triggered then it's likely the markets were not being refreshed fast enough for the amount of time you had the rule armed for

11/14/2019 13:29:51: [G_Auto] : $ 1.00 Back bet placed on 6. Precious Chloe at 2.12. Fully matched at 2.12. Ref: 185462910738
11/14/2019 13:31:45: Guardian has detected that the market is suspended

rule 1 back 3min out to 40secs (event start) on any selection at best price (once conditions met)
rule 2 close trade on any selection 30sec to 0.00 (event start)

both rules triggered - at the correct times - just no lay bet was placed

OK so it looks hasn't triggered on the selection that had a back bet placed on it
When applying to ANY selection (as opposed to using Betfair row 1, 2 or etc for both rules) you'll need to add a condition so it triggers on the same one.

So on your close trade rule add a 'Number of place bet triggers condition' on selection is greater than 0
That will tell it to trigger on the selection thats had a back bet trigger.

Finally if you have more than 30 markets in guardian and your still using the default 1 second guardian refresh rate this may mean your market isn't been refreshed.
Increase the refresh rate on the main guardian banner to 200ms and then try it again along with the condition above.
