Hey all,

I want to get to know the community here, so I thought I would make a fun post. :D

I started trading Bitcoin and shitcoins in 2018. I came a long way over 2 years.

before that, I did not even know any technical analysis and purely speculated on what to buy based on fundamentals.

I came a long way over 2 years and my new focus is to be able to trade anything in any market. I am also paper trading options right now.

I have been trading on Bet Angel for just over a week using min stakes and I am enjoying everysingle moment in the rabbit hole of Sports trading.

I feel like sports trading will be the perfect day to day part of my trading life so I can focus on more macro trades in financial markets and crypto.

I am wondering how many other people here come from the financial markets like Peter.

Glad to be here!

Hello,

Other people will have better stories than me cause I'm a deadset noob at making money this way....
I started work at Clark Rubber. Selling Rubber...then Pizza Hut....oh wait you probably dont wanna know that far back! :)...
I came to this stuff after a brief career matched betting before getting gubbed everywhere. I was never into gambling, I sort of find that a bit stressful. It's nice not to have 15 bookie accounts anymore...
Then I tried botting online casino's. Fail...
Then I tried making money on betfair purely with staking plans. Fail...
Then I think Wayne Bailey's book got me most excited.
Then I came to Bet Angel, after trying GeeksToy, other software and another one I forgot the name of right now :)
Still quite a ways to go. Hope I don't die in the meantime :)

I hope that's...sorta interesting...its probably not tho...

Computer programming background though I was unemployed for years in between. I'm surprised there are so many ex-military traders on here, but perhaps the discipline is an advantage when switching to trading. :)

Same background as Derek.

I was trying to disprove a Streetwise marketing thing for Mum and it drew me to one of Peter's Youtube videos on the competitive nature of the Betfair market. I got sucked in and am slowly upping my stakes.

Wayne was a librarian, came on my course, put some of that content in a book without crediting me then went back to being a librarian.

Not that I'm bitter or anything.

The very last job I did was a commercial manager for a worldwide electronics company, based in Germany.

It was a long road to get to that position but I'd always wanted to do my own thing so I had an eye on going full time on financial markets. But got distracted by the opportunity at Betfair.

My claim to fame is drinking in the pub that Steve Wright, the Ipswich murderer used to be the landlord off. :)

Great thread idea OP :)

I'm probably one of the younger members and don't really have an interesting story so I'll try and keep it short. I'm a college dropout that never failed an exam, that sums it up I think :) It made sense to study economics and computer science at the time (early noughties) but I found out that I didn't have an ounce of passion for programming and such so I never prepared too many exams and eventually just gave up on all of it.

But I thoroughly enjoyed the student lifestyle and its various distractions, no father figure in my life meant lack of supervision and sense of direction so I got into (competitive) video gaming where I surprisingly made decent money to support myself, plus this inspired my younger brother to eventually become a fantastic video game developer based in a top UK game dev firm, so I guess that worked out well. In short, everyone in my family is crazy successful in their fields so as the official family black sheep I think I had a point to prove, but just didn't know where :D

Randomly found out about Betfair and betting exchanges thanks to a marketing video from Mr. Bery, then found out about the depths of the markets from Peter and others and I was beyond hooked after noticing many similarities to gaming. Always hated programming and numbers in general, have no real interest in data and I don't use excel and such tools, but genuinely fascinated with the psychological side of the market and how it actually works on a mechanical level. So most of my trading focus has always been on better understanding both the order flow side of the market and the psychology side that drives it.

Very much looking forward to reading about others' backgrounds :)

This question has been asked before but it would be a bit of a job searching for it.
