I guess I can sleep at night knowing I gave him some electricity vouchers. I'm done for today, I'm losing it over my neighbour.
RANT CORNER
So do I... that 25 quid was 3 separate times for electric, I was never concerned about the money, just his 2 boys. It really does go to show just how bare people are living when they borrow 5 quid to top up their emergency balance.Derek27 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2020 6:32 pmIt's not worth getting angry about. Sounds like you need some of what your neighbour is on to help you calm downjamesg46 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2020 6:19 pmAnd he still owes me £25 quid... I'll only have to open my window & take a deep breath.Trader Pat wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2020 6:54 pmSounds like you need some of what your neighbour is on to help you calm downjamesg46 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2020 6:19 pmAnd he still owes me £25 quid... So you're in the camp that says hard up people aren't allowed any pleasures? No sky, no fags, no booze, nothing but basic rations, sack cloth and ashes? Perhaps he needs a distraction to get him though how miserable his life actually is or he's doing without many other things to pay for that one pleasure. When life is shit you need an escape, just be thankful you don't.jamesg46 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2020 6:57 pmI'll only have to open my window & take a deep breath.Trader Pat wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2020 6:54 pmSounds like you need some of what your neighbour is on to help you calm downjamesg46 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2020 6:19 pmAnd he still owes me £25 quid... No, I'm not in any camp. I completely agree that people should have some of lifes little pleasures.... I just think there is a fine line between needing & taking the piss. A constant isn't really a pleasure in my eyes, it's an addiction.ShaunWhite wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2020 7:31 pmSo you're in the camp that says hard up people aren't allowed any pleasures? The poor have always been an easy target to demonise. It'll be interesting to see if these redundant middle classes change their tune once they are in the same boat. Somehow I doubt it.
I dont think I'm demonising the poor, I'm having a rant about my neighbour taking the piss. The thing is, we both go to work, we both live in the same area, we both have 2 kids to feed... one of us would rather smoke a tonne of weed & the other feed his kids & still have the decency to help him out when hes clearly been bothered more about getting stoned than having enough electric to cook his kids some tea. Hes the exact same "class" as me, I'm not the one still eating takeaways & getting stoned while taking handouts, I'm saving my money, trying to be careful.spreadbetting wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2020 8:03 pmThe poor have always been an easy target to demonise. I think we're all missing the point of this thread, myself included probably.
Shouldn't the whole concept of a rant thread be to have a safe place on the forum where you can have a random rant, lighthearted or serious, without the judgement part?
If a guy can't have a little rant about his stoner neighbor without needing to constantly defend himself then it's pointless since it's like any other thread. Maybe anyone ranting here should be blindly supported, for shits and giggles at least, no matter what people think about his rants.

I'm not sure if spreadbetting was referring to me or not to be honest, but it was pure assumption if so, nobody knew his or my class, or if he or I worked until I used the comparison. My neighbour is having his cake and taking the cake from those that need it, my rant was about that, not about the poor. I'm not trying to find arguments and tbh if that's how they see me as a person through a forum then maybe that's the vibe I offer out.Kai wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2020 8:32 pmI think we're all missing the point of this thread, myself included probably.

+10 (despite not always agreeing with the said RANT), so RANT thread = RANT and wipe hands... done dealKai wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2020 8:32 pmI think we're all missing the point of this thread, myself included probably.

If I borrowed money from someone, the first thing I'd try and do was pay that person back. Someone who doesn't and simply forgets or doesn't care is absolute scum in my eyes.jamesg46 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2020 8:19 pmI dont think I'm demonising the poor, I'm having a rant about my neighbour taking the piss. What make you think he's paying for it? Lots of people have mates that grow a little personal stash and share it out. The people with the least are usually the most generous to their own kind.jamesg46 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2020 8:19 pmI dont think I'm demonising the poor, I'm having a rant about my neighbour taking the piss. Didn't realise you were his neighbour and knew the guy more than James doesShaunWhite wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2020 9:03 pmWhat make you think he's paying for it? He grows his own stash once a year, but previously has borrowed money from me for it. Hes very open & we talk often... probably because the guy knocked a hole in the pantry ceiling last year when he was doing his annual grow and fed his outlet pipe under his stairs which somehow lead the smell into my house through the cavity, so I asked him & he showed me. We dont have a long term bad taste between us, but him taking handouts when there are people who imo would need them more is what got me.ShaunWhite wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2020 9:03 pmWhat make you think he's paying for it?
