The poor have always been an easy target to demonise. It'll be interesting to see if these redundant middle classes change their tune once they are in the same boat. Somehow I doubt it.
Me also, hes borrowed money from me for years and had always paid it back, I just think hes become so stoned that hes forgot what hes borrowed.... the amount isn't the end of the world & I'd happily lend him a fiver or a tenner again (or give) so that his boys can play xbox while eating their tea.
I dont think I'm demonising the poor, I'm having a rant about my neighbour taking the piss. The thing is, we both go to work, we both live in the same area, we both have 2 kids to feed... one of us would rather smoke a tonne of weed & the other feed his kids & still have the decency to help him out when hes clearly been bothered more about getting stoned than having enough electric to cook his kids some tea. Hes the exact same "class" as me, I'm not the one still eating takeaways & getting stoned while taking handouts, I'm saving my money, trying to be careful.
If I borrowed money from someone, the first thing I'd try and do was pay that person back. Someone who doesn't and simply forgets or doesn't care is absolute scum in my eyes.

We dont have a long term bad taste between us, but him taking handouts when there are people who imo would need them more is what got me.
Fair enough james and I'm not unsympathetic towards you really. It's maybe just a case of the grass looking greener on the other side ;) ('scuse the pun). Most people have a whole backstory and situation that leads them to live the way they do, he's probably on a forum somewhere complaining about curtain twitchers next door :)

Haha, you're probably right about that... I certainly seem to have accumulated a bunch of assumptions about him, be it through watching or him telling me but ultimately, I probably dont and wont ever know his darkest life moments. I'm not usually bothered about his smoking habits, I couldn't care less, today just left me needing to rant.

No worries James, we all have that one stoner neighbor that keeps forgetting stuff.

My neighbor is far worse for example, you wouldn't believe the size of some of his joints.

My first rant! Why are we breeding snowflakes? I have just heard that 44% of 18-24 year olds are feeling lonely because they can't meet with their friends in person (clearly their beloved social media doesn't quite do it for them). They then interviewed a 21 year old university student (who is obviously not at uni. just now) who said "It's really scary that I can't meet my friends" ... I have just one thing to say to him that paraphrases something I once heard Henry Blofeld say ... 'scary' was being the 21 year old pilot of a Spitfire over England in 1940 with two Messerschmitt 109's behind you and not not being able to meet a friend in person!

On the flip of that, you would hope people, especially young people, come out on the other side of this, with a new found knowledge that having a laugh over a good story and a glass of whatever beverage in bloody person, giving and getting a hug etc is what you really matters and makes you happy, with social media being a bit of fun on the side.

:) I'm still getting used to a pound being 100 pennies instead of 240.
