how come there are so many scratchings in australia, must have been at least 6 at the gates today, often there isnt a single one in the uk, feels like every other race there is a delay not being able to load a horse

Euler, do the late scratchings mess with your bots? And what protections do you put in to protect yourself?

I tried to error trap them, but it caused more problems than it was worth. So I just let everything come out in the wash.

im sure there are many more scratchings for australian racing, maybe they have different policies as to whats allowed

Here in Aus over the last 5 days there has been heavy rain (adelaide-melbourne)..tracks are rated heavy 7,8,9,10..
Once tracks get to the 9/10 range you always get a lot more scratchings...it's up to the trainer who may feel his horse is not suited to near bog conditions....nothing to do with what's allowed.A trainer has to scratch his horse no later than 8.00am on race morning...

thinking about it probably most of the reason is that they always start from the gate whereas in the uk they dont for the longer distance races

Not possible, you don't know what BSP is until the race is off, after which, BSP is no longer available.
