I was sacked from a part time security job as a teenager because I refused to 'clear' pigeons with an air rifle, my conscience is clear

No, he made a little mistake when replying to firlandsfarm so it appeared as though he was quoting his own post and talking to himself.Kafkaesque wrote: ↑Sun May 03, 2020 7:56 pmDouble profile or?Archery1969 wrote: ↑Sun May 03, 2020 4:45 pmWhy do Americans (guess based on accent) treat guns so flippantly. As for Americans and their guns, I think it's important not to confuse them with Muricans who may look and sound similar but are an entirely different species. That's all I have to add.

Your post looked like you forgot to log a second (ie. double) profile before replying to yourself. Common practice when someone's just hanging around to troll and stir up shit.Archery1969 wrote: ↑Sun May 03, 2020 8:19 pmDouble profile ?Kafkaesque wrote: ↑Sun May 03, 2020 7:56 pmDouble profile or?Archery1969 wrote: ↑Sun May 03, 2020 4:45 pm

You don't strike me as a troll or the shit-stirring type, so really was just a question as what happened there, and not an accusation as such.
True, but the opposite is equally true. Americans who look and sound par for the course may be way more sinister.
This has 20+ years on it, and there's been a black president, re-elected even, in that time frame so things might have changed, but several incidents shook me a bit, when I lived in Texas as young man.
I recall being at a party, when news broke that Tupac had been gunned down. Someone I'd never have expected it from simply remarked "That's a shame. He was pretty cool. For a n*****." With everyone agreeing. Also being in a parking lot outside school and someone out of the blue putting on country music about getting the rope ready for n*****s, and about lining them up against a wall with a shotgun ready; while I knew full well that there was a shotgun in the back of this 16-year-old's pickup.
These were kids, who shared kegs and played in football teams with black kids, and didn't seem the types on initial impression, but they had hatred bubbling under the surface which a younger version of me didn't spot initially.
It's a society where the wrong sort of spark can set off a firestorm imho.
That sounds like an airtight alibi tbh. But yeah, hearing that sort of garbage must have been difficult for such young innocent earsKafkaesque wrote: ↑Sun May 03, 2020 9:42 pmI recall being at a party, when news broke that Tupac had been gunned down.

Casual racism is often an easy source of humor for the younger generations, it can easily be mistaken for something "cool" much like smoking etc, depending on where you grow up. But be it genuine racism or just your standard ignorance, it's been slowly getting watered down with each new generation, especially with the introduction of wigger subculture in the 90s.
And yet nothing happened for decades with plenty of sparks flying in all directions, so they obviously found a way to coexist. As a social experiment in that sense, the melting pot of cultures and ethnicities that is America can still probably be considered a success, but regarding most other things it's safe to say that it's been a big fat failureKafkaesque wrote: ↑Sun May 03, 2020 9:42 pmIt's a society where the wrong sort of spark can set off a firestorm imho.

I thought the wall was supposed to be a great listener?

But it's good to see Derek out and about for a change, doing charital stuff even, because if he spends any more time on the forum he may just need to start paying rent

Maybe he already owes Peter about 3 years worth of rent?! Would explain why he's on every single racing market from here to Wagga

Or someone there has spotted Derek posting on here on his phone, and after reading his posts in this thread, decided it was better for his blood pressures before being poked with a needle to avoid having him see other people behaving like the twats they are

Also a likely scenario, yes!Kafkaesque wrote: ↑Wed May 06, 2020 6:05 pmOr someone there has spotted Derek posting on here on his phone, and after reading his posts in this thread, decided it was better for his blood pressures before being poked with a needle to avoid having him see other people behaving like the twats they are![]()

Just been to B&Q. I couldn't believe my luck with just two people in the queue. Then the guy said to me
"Do you have a trade card sir?"
"No".
"Click and collect?"
"No".
"Well bugger off then, the queue's half a mile down the road".

Have to hand it to them though, they've got the most organised and well staffed social distancing procedures.

All the people who bought the seeds before me are now stripping the shelves of pots and saucers to transplant their seedlings in. Should have seen that coming.Derek27 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 25, 2020 7:00 pmWhy do people always wait for me to decide on a purchase, get to the shop before me and clear the flipping shelf??
Lined my garden fence with. baskets, filled them with compost, which was difficult enough to get hold of, and now no flipping seeds!
Except for pansies that won't flower until next year.
