I agree with the training point. Clumsy, inappropriate, exuding fear and uncontrolled aggression.Trader Pat wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 5:48 pmThat just proves they don't discriminate in a protest situation. IMO cops need to be trained much better than they are for but for me the problem is the system. The US justice system is systematically racist, that's why blacks get generally longer prison terms than whites for committing the exact same crime.
I have a real issue with CNN during all the coverage because I think their helping to fan the flames. They have every black person with a profile on the channel on a daily basis allowed to just say whatever they want without being challenged, its not journalism at all. When you have the family of George Floyd demanding equal justice and wanting the death penalty you can understand that but when other people are on demanding the 4 cops be charged with 1st degree murder there should be some push back by the interviewer but there never is. These cops will all plea down to a lesser charge because that how the system works for everyone and CNN should be preparing people for that rather than being cheerleaders for the victims family.
Ben Ferencz once said there is no such thing as perfect justice but the justice you do get is better than no justice at all.
The point about operating in a gun-soaked environment affecting police behaviour really does make sense to me.
The question of how the US wriggles out of this perennial issue of mindless violence and fearful, poorly trained police being OTT will run and run.
As firlandsfarm said we should be grateful for our British police. I've never understood why anyone would become a copper or soldier. They must have a huge desire and confidence to take on society at it's bleeding edge.

Everyone has the right to peaceful protest regardless of the topic in question.
However, whatever people may think of DT, shaking the outer fence of the Whitehouse is probably a very bad move and didn't seem very peaceful to me. Do these people know what would happen if they managed to get past the Whitehouse Police ?
- Secret service snipers
- 2 modern GE Gatling guns (6,000 rpm)
- Navy seals
- US Rangers
- Personal bodyguards
Don't think they will be allowed to just march across the Whitehouse lawn for a sit down picnic. You would more than likely just see a red mist after the shooting stops.

They did more than shake the outer fence, as of this morning 370+ officers were hospitalized overall from various injuries, including secret service agents around TWH.Archery1969 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 10:36 pmEveryone has the right to peaceful protest regardless of the topic in question.

I heard they were trying really hard so Trump went to hide in his bunker, the media loved that bit. Then they built a new perimeter, added more fencing with concrete barriers. This fortifying part CNN did end up covering, anything that makes Trump look weak

In many (though not all) situations, particularly in certain areas in our larger cities, this is simply efficient policing. You need to focus most attention on those who are statistically most likely to be committing crime, regardless of their colour.Trader Pat wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 5:48 pmIn most situations ethnic minorities are targeted more than whites. Police must be allowed to proactively target offenders without fear of being labelled racist'. This lesson was best illustrated when Police nationwide failed to robustly investigate the hundreds of young girls being groomed by gangs of men from largely Pakistani origin, for fear of being deemed racist and damaging community cohesion.
Let's not now make Police afraid to tackle criminals of whatever colour, in particular the drug gang violence in our inner cities where the offenders are in many cases overwhelmingly of minority ethnic heritage.

Agreed.Archery1969 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 10:20 amWell, i guess with an estimated 300 million guns in general circulation and explosives which can be bought over the counter with a driving license in some states then they are not prepared to take any chances when it comes to their personal safety. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/global-heal ... rch-finds/The link is so strong that some researchers are suggesting baldness should be considered a risk factor called the "Gabrin sign", after the first US physician to die of Covid-19 in the United States, Dr Frank Gabrin, who was bald.
The lead author of the key study behind the association, Professor Carlos Wambier of Brown University, told The Telegraph: "We really think that baldness is a perfect predictor of severity."

Covid-19 and being bald ?
I think you will find that its down to blood group type. Research was already done in France and China. The results showed that if you have blood group A or A+ then you are much more likely to get a bad reaction, need hospital / oxygen and possibly die.
Have the UK tested the blood group type of all the Covid-19 deaths in the UK ? Probably not. The government has been behind the curve on pretty much everything during this pandemic. I wouldn't trust any of them to walk my dog.
Having said that its not just this latest event, i remember back in the Falklands war, our troops didn't have the right kit or enough ammunition and were lucky the Argentina conscripts didn't have the stomach for a prolonged campaign. If they had been a regular professional fighting force and the Americans had decided not to unofficial help us then we would have had our butts kicked.
I am struggling to think of something this country has/does do well...

The article says it's hormone related.Archery1969 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 06, 2020 9:26 amCovid-19 and being bald ?

Increasingly they believe it could be because androgens - male sex hormones like testosterone - may play a part not only in hair loss, but also in boosting the ability of coronavirus to attack cells.
I tend to agree - it's been like Carry On Up The Corona - although it would have been no better had Labour been in power (they'd have just wasted more money and done more virtue signalling).Archery1969 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 06, 2020 9:26 amI am struggling to think of something this country has/does do well...
How did we fight World War II? The logistics alone were mind-boggling.

We were seriously losing until Churchill begged the USA for help. If they had refused then things would have turned out very differently.superfrank wrote: ↑Sat Jun 06, 2020 10:19 amThe article says it's hormone related.Archery1969 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 06, 2020 9:26 amCovid-19 and being bald ?
