The internet and the resulting social media has created echo chambers and intensified political divisions. This has been fuelled by the ghastly modern age of political correctness, where the weak and thin-skinned feel entitled to be protected from words they dislike. It's also created a stomach churning need for some people to show how wonderfully righteous they are.........even when somebody blows up 22 kids at a concert, these brainwashed idiots are more concerned about Islamophobia than the poor kids and heartbroken families. The mainstream media (especially the broadcasting media) have become particularly obsessed with this vomit inducing self-righteousness, to the point where we are being told:
What we should think
What we should do
What we should say
What we should believe in
How we should react to certain individuals
How we should react to world events.......
IT'S NEVERENDING!!

In a free world, we have the freedom to be free thinkers. The era of 'Woke' goes against the very principles of that

This is what's driving people to the right of centre and even the far-right. It's happening across the Western World, people have had a gutful of Socialist and Liberal fantasy politics

I've had to deactivate my Twitter account this morning, it was a decision I think is best to protect my mental health. Twitter was the only platform that I used, Facebook & Instagram went years ago, which baffles me because Twitter is certainly the most toxic of them all.

I'm tired of the constant scrolling (imagine having 3 or more accounts to waste scrolls through), the constant battle with myself to not engage in endless, meaningless, self exhausting rage debates that never have an outcome is a waste of my energy.

I felt like a muzzled fish circling a lake constantly being filled with endless bait feeding the Piranha that surround me.

Originally, I used it to engage in the land of Twitter traders (another useless venture) & I was nieve enough to believe that I could control the environment that i was engaging with.

In reality, i was just a fish watching piranha eat the bait and each other, i opened the app this morning & the first thing to hit my eyeball was a story that Muslims were burning a Union Flag outside of a Mosque in London & it probably wasn't just me seeing it so the narrative of the day had been set in my first 10 mins of opening my eyes. For me thats enough, I could waste my life giving irrelevant opinions on Twitter but in the end I'd of left the world just scrolling through one echoe to another, never having made a difference to either the world or my own life.

Probably wise, I'm not as active as I used to be on Twitter. Tweetdeck isn't too bad, you can tailor it to suit your own tastes and you don't have to see whats trending, seems to be nothing but kpop, cats or people pissed off about something.

You're getting yourself all wound up over nothing. It's just a load of gobshites on Twitter, it's just another fad.
You know the mood of the nation and it certainly isn't going to be voting en mass for our civil liberies to be sliced up is it?

You should have more faith in human nature, these people are no more representative of the country than the people over-reacting to it and going the opposite way.

How on earth was that a left wing or right wing response?

Your paranoia has really got out of control. Yeah anything anyone says has a political bias and everyone's out to get you, and that's the "truth". The actual truth is that couple of hundred politics students get 15mins of fame and you're wetting yourself.

That said, Brexit started with a bunch of fruitcakes and look at shower of shite that's caused so maybe you're right. Extremists on both sides are equally dangerous....which I think was my original non-partisan comment.

Did you see there is an application to start a new TV channel in the UK along the lines of Fox due to the "extreme left wing bias" of the BBC and media. It's intended name is GB TV. Funded by money from America.

Thinking of starting a sweep on who will be lead presenter...

Piers Morgan.

Classic Morgan territory and I get the feeling he is done with GMB

Maybe Andrew Neil to come out of self exile? Though I did pick up a rumour yesterday that Boris may have him in mind to head up the BBC … that could be interesting! :) And yes, I did say "maybe … rumour … may … could"!!

I think the dislike the Right have for him is of equal proportion to that of the Left. I have a feeling that the majority of Conservatives or "maybe" the majority of people, had already had their fill of Covid just as Piers started to ramp up his hyper melodramatic outbursts, it was like a switch had been flicked on Social Media & in his head... I'd be very suprised if an alternative, similar to Fox was to happen & if it did, I couldn't imagine Piers having anything to do with it.

If it were to then It has Nigel Farage written all over it, I wouldnt be suprised if he and Trump were to financially back it, through one of them foundations everyone seems to have these days. It'll be huge fun, instead of having just flat out one sided propaganda in the UK, we can have mainstream propaganda information wars.

Trump has said multiple times now that "they" (i assume Republicans) need to find an alternative to Fox. If it is to be a thing then its going to be the biggest thing you've ever seen, like nothing anybody has seen before, so big that you will have to speak its name like its wrote in capitals.

Think I'll have to give up on getting a 1.75 lay on Biden as this is starting to look like a Trump steam train

Betfair's political writer is going in hard against Trump, took a look at his 2016 predictions too and he lost a ton of money on Clinton, take a look at his twitter too and you'll see he's so far to left it's unreal (still going on about Russia) - why do BF get these guys? Seen on the football they've got a guy who doesn't even trade.

Don't take any notice of Paul Krishnamurty. That guy goes to bed in Lenin pyjamas

Needless to say, we've blocked each other on Twitter........we couldn't even agree on what day of the week it is
