Okay, it's time to retire VAR from football.

Also, Joel Matip.
My heart sunk when the Southhampton goal was ruled offside but at least VAR delayed the sinking feeling for 60 seconds. :)

Apparently, if the offside guy was wearing shorter sleeves it might have been a goal! I find it quite mind-boggling how the end of a sleeve can be used to determine offside. Does the FA specify how long sleeves should be? Don't bigger guys with XXXL shirts need longer sleeves? It should be where the shoulder meets the arm. :)

Same thought occured to me. How far do you go with the high definition subjective judgement. Cameras that accurately define the distortion of a ball? A reference table that accounts for the differing physiques of individual footballers? Perhaps, cgi profiling of every player before a game? It's become bonkers. We used to banter about referee decisions, now we're into high tech and pixels. Bloody Nora!!!!

The late Julian Wilson said back in the 1980s, if modern technology can determine the winner in a photo that looks like a dead heat, then we can do without modern technology. :)

Also, there was a 2nd phase. ie: The keeper saved the shot, then a new phase begins. = goal.

The offside rule remains, and will always remain, a controversial one to interpret.

FWIW, in the my Xg league table I've marked it down as 1-1 draw and adjusted it accordingly.

It's an indication of the change in both teams reputation that the market's view that at Liverpool 1-0 they're still only 1.29 to win.

Would a referee ever blow his whistle while a side is attacking or a player about to shoot, or do they always wait for a placid moment?

That Liverpool goal reminds me of Enrique's pass from a similar area to Suarez, who took it down off his shoulder and tucked it in.

I had a free bet on the draw so didn't win anything but they appear to have resettled the Southampton-Villa game.

That was a marvellous goal by Mo Salah might even match Terry McDermott's for counter attacking artistry

Happy memories. Steve Heighway plundering down the wing.
Apologies for indulging in Liverpool. Feel free to add any memories of other teams. I know this thread is about trading but would be happy to hear other supporters thoughts about their iconic players.

All about Jimmy Bolton and Les Cleevey for me at Carshalton Athletic back in the early 90s as a kid
Local team, always supported them rather than any larger team
Remember going to Barnet for an FA Cup First round match as one of the teams highlights

Had a friend that became disillusioned with the Premier League. Created a map of the area he was prepared to travel to. Then shut his eyes and stuck a pin in. He claimed it was the best decision (footballwise) he ever made.

Liverpool apparently signed Ben Davies for just £2m, Spurs fans must be fuming.
