There is also a often overlooked reason not to start the nuclear war, the reason is you'll have to deal with hundreds of thousands of pissed off people of attacked country who will try to shoot on sight.
You can say yanks did it to Japan, but yanks wasn't stupid - they had herded the japanese into concentration camps beforehand.
You really don't want to deal with hundreds of thousands pissed-off russians.
For what reason would Russians be pissed off with Nato.
The reality is Russia has invaded a soveriegn state neighbour (once a stout ally) and meted out massive destruction in pursuit of it's selfish aims.
Nato has no intention of setitng a single boot on Russian territory.
Western democracy would be in uproar if they did.
You can see the West's response in sanctions. Thats how we do it unless you're a nutter like Saddam. And make no mistake it will be relentless until Putin stops his aggression.
I believe Russia is predicted to suffer a 10% reduction in GDP.
Is this aggression? No we just don't want to conduct commerce with this regime. You can can kepp your oil, gas, grain. We'll find a way without you. But we would prefer it if we were back in partnership.
"For what reason would Russians be pissed off with Nato."
They obviously would be pissed off if their fatherland would be destroyed and polluted. Not a surprise I guess.
"Nato has no intention of setitng a single boot on Russian territory."
That's why I said "the nuclear war".
"Western democracy would be in uproar if they did."
That's not true. History has shown that you are well trained to keep your mouth shut too.
"Thats how we do it unless you're a nutter like Saddam."
It's all in the will of the administers who decide who is "saddam" enough.
"And make no mistake it will be relentless until Putin stops his aggression."
I'm not optimistic about it, I think it will be relentless even after the president.
"You can can kepp your oil, gas, grain. We'll find a way without you."
No, you can't without damaging yourself and that's why non-western countries, to put it mildly, are very surprised by your behavior and are reviewing some of their financial problems and routes in order to limit the possible risks of interacting with you in case if your hot heads will suddenly decide that some of non-western countries leaders are "saddam" enough to rob them.
"But we would prefer it if we were back in partnership."
Russians would too, but your leaders think that it's cool to shoot yourself (you, really) in a leg without asking your opinion.
