Do they heat the full house to 22ºC or main rooms to 16ºC and wrap up?
Thankfully we're not experiencing fuel poverty so we're on 26deg 247 365. Being warm is my #1 luxury. But that's a reaction to growing up in a house where my old man had the heating off from April to October even if it dropped to single figures.
You'd be better off living in a warmer climate. I've lived in a flat with drafty windows where I'd set the thermostat to 15ºC. If there was a strong westerly wind I'd drop it down to 13ºC rather than heat the troposphere, but I'd still be able to sit in a tee shirt most of the day. I'd reserve my warm jumper for the evening for a bit of extra comfort. :)
We never had central heating at home until I was in my mid-late teens, as a result I'm perfectly comfortable in 16-18degrees room temps, anything over 20 and I start to get uncomfortable

Unfortunately though the wife's hates the cold and anything below mid-low 20s she finds uncomfortable so its always a compromise when we're both in the same room

The good old days when the ice on the windows was on the inside and getting into bed at night in the winter had to be done gradually like lowering yourself into an ice bath.

That's a brilliant observation. Been there, done that. Waiting for you body heat to warm things up so you were snug, apart from you head.
Eeeee, kids today don't they're born. :-)
Except that some, and an increasing number, know this situation only too well.

I was going to mention ice on the inside of the windows. Without meaning to sound like the four Yorkshire men, I used to jump straight into bed on my sides so only my arms absorbed the cold, until the bed warmed up. I'd jump out of bed and get dressed in 60 seconds flat.

26ºC!!!

:D We all would. I don't know of any other animal that has to put on extra clothes to leave its den for most of the year. We're fundamentally not designed to operated at this latitude... Even indoors the warmest blooded of you need heating for half the year so how is that ok!

Yep living in a warmer place when my family duties were done was my dream for 30+yrs. But without proof of income (haha) getting residency somewhere warm with a better health care system ready old age is now impossible thanks to the 52%.

 I'd put my school uniform on before I got out of bed, no kidding. Like others my family thought ice on the inside of the windows was acceptable! But tbh later you realise they did it cos they were broke so fair enough.

Body temperature is 37.

But that said I've just spent 2weeks at 31-34 and it's was the upper end of comfortble. But it was really noticeable how few fat people there were. Obesity isn't about sugar or diet it's about evolving blubber to cope with living north of Ottawa :D

There was some popping sound on the telly, in the background of the England press conference - I panicked thinking bets were being placed on BA!

Really? Would have thought electric would be flipping perfect for that application. Known distance. If something goes wrong swap in another.
And highlights the tech too.
Very, very good point, chief.

They've used them at other places apparently so it seemed odd they didn't here.
