If you want to spout a load of disrespectful stuff about the queen, I suggest Twitter not Bet Angel
Didn't have you down as being part of the Cancel Culture. Would you like a safe space so you don't have to hear it?

Nobody is disrespecting her, some just don't care as much as others.

They are welcome to say it, but I just think it's a shame that people cannot even show respect

Crticis of the Queen on this thread should bear in mind she would appear to be very ill. Bantering about the merits of the Monarchy feels a bit macabre to me.
Let's wait and see then we can be respectful/disprespectful/negative/positive as we wish and the mods will allow.

Just hush!

For those who are in horror that the Queen does not pay taxes and is immune from prosecution for any crime.

Those rules were not hers, if you want to blame someone then take it up with Cromwell and Parliament of that period.

The arrangement was the Queen or King would stay in place but never be allowed to directly become involved in politics. For that sacrifice he or she got some benefits.

There are many on here who don’t pay tax plus some other professions where tax is not liable. I remember in the 1990s waiting at an airport in Norway and talking to a load of Oil and Gas workers. None of them paid tax because of an arrangement between the UK and certain countries around offshore working. I am sure there are some other types of work too where no tax is paid.

If you want to change things then write to your MP or run for Parliament yourself.

Personally, I don’t care how much the Queen costs me as I would rather give it to her than the government of the day.

and just to add, it always used to be the case that the income the government then received for the Crown Estates etc always far outweighed the amount given in the old Civil List. Not sure if that's still the case but even if it isn't a huge portion would be offset

Wether you are pro or against the monarchy, you have to say the Queen has served the country well for a long period of time. She deserves respect.

You only need to head to WIndsor or some of the other places to see the net effect of having a head of state, without any real power, contributes a lot to the economy. It's not like they rule like they did in medieval times. But you would often think that given the way people speak.

Know someone in the media who's been told unofficially she's already dead. Guess we'll find out soon enough but it'd make sense they don't release the info til the family is gathered together.

[facepalm] - that said, a gathering of the clan is never a good sign in these scenarios..
