The disgraced lying git is now down to 4.3. I think he might be worth laying. Brainless MPs like Nadine Dorries might think an incompetent buffoon who failed to do the job at the best of times is the best man to continue the current chaos, party members that chose Truss may also, but will the bulk of MPs want him, his baggage and pending investigation?

Presumably the odds are mostly based on whether Boris decides to run and if he can get the required 100 nominations. If there's an open vote of all Conservative members then surely he would be favourite?

Sunak to become PM and Hunt to remain as chancellor. They are both good mates so Sunak will be able to advise on what to do with economy too.

Rumours are that Hunt already discussed with Sunak what to do with Truss plan for the economy, hence he ditched most of it.

So, in a nutshell, Sunak will be the PM and chancellor behind the scenes.

Seems a sensible approach to me.

Apparently Boris is 23 MPs short of the necessary 100 to stand.

I think Sunak and Hunt will make a good team.

Does Boris get £230k pa if he gets reelected?

You'd think they'd have learnt their lesson after selecting Truss, when Sunak's "fantasy economics" has categorically been proven correct. Or maybe not.

Three Conservative MPs have said if Johnson gets in they'll surrender the whip and turn independent. I'm hoping they're just the tip of the iceberg. If many of them take the same stance, he won't get the 100 nominations, or better still, he gets elected by the members and the party lose its majority.

44 days, plus another 8 for the leadership contest. Johnson only beat May by 18 days thanks to a drawn-out contest.

They need to change the rules. If you haven't been in the job for a fixed period of time you shouldn't qualify for the pension and personal security.

I hope that £115K isn't linked to inflation, let her suffer from her own policies.

In fairness to Truss, I don't think she's the worst PM we've ever had, as The Metro claim in their headlines. Sure, she was daft, incompetent, thought repeating a word three times makes it three times as meaningful and she was deluded into thinking a government doesn't really need taxes. But at least she wasn't a compulsive liar, no reason to think she wouldn't have respected lockdown rules had she set them or sunk to the depths of her predecessor.
