Jesus, my name being banded about on here....
Sorry Archery, I just sought some form of reason from you for your serious accusations, I wasn't expecting a response from anyone else).

Boris has £6 million held in 2 bank accounts in Switzerland and Austria.

The reason for wanting the £800k loan was for 1. Keeping someone quiet and yes it involves offspring. 2. Borrowing the money as a loan which could be offset for tax reasons after it was paid into a company which he and his father owned.

Point 1 above could be a bomb shell and point 2 above is done all the time by many individuals.
My 'doubts' were raised with your comment about the tax efficiency of such a loan. The loan cannot be offset against tax as seems to be implied in your comment, only the interest on the loan and then only if the capital injected into the business was for a "qualifying purpose". as explained here

I agree the attempts by some on the internet to evaluate a person's wealth give wide ranging assessments ... (some say Angela Rayner is worth over £5 million ... really, from her chequered background?) so again I wondered where the knowledge of the £6 million came from, it was a precise amount!

I seem to remember you saying you were a tax consultant?
So you have an unfair advantage in this debate and almost certainly your opinion is correct. So you asking people to back up their comments with references on the subject is entirely fair IMO.

You mean there's nothing in the biased bollocks that you can argue is wrong. :D
I argued all of it to be wrong and I notice from your use of " :D " that your comment was in jest therefore some of it is wrong!
So you don't believe we have a cost of living crisis and people can't see a dentist, even though they're pulling out their own teeth - that explains everything.

By the way, the " :D " represents being "very happy", it's the " ;) " that represents not being serious, so you don't even understand smilies!

If there was a thumbs-up emoji I would be using it here.

Yes you are right Greenmark although I retired 20+ years ago so some rules will have changed, so that's why i checked first! But not sure what it says if having knowledge of a subject give an "unfair advantage"! :)

I was more intrigued that the cabinet office can not explain what procedure is being followed to justify the investigation, and indeed whether it legal.

Find out more today by the sounds of it.

I think it's normal when a senior Civil Servant takes new employment that some form of investigation takes place in order to preserve the claimed impartiality of the Service (or not!).

Yes. I think its about vetting the job and what sort of timescale must pass before an offer can be accepted. The investigation however seems to be into a "chat" about an offer - for all we know she may not have even been aware that an offer was being considered.

I would be v surprised if there aren't loads that have "chats"...

Yes but who is going to define what is a "chat" and what is not?!
