All the West needs to do is kick in the door and the Putin regime will start to collapse like the rotten state it is....
I have read much WW2 history so I know where that quote came from! Hitler on the eve of Operation Barborrossa
Interesting. And opens more questions than it answers. But I guess that defines European history in general. Every time you think you understand, there's another layer of history that disrupts your view. I still hold the view that trying to redraw borders is bloody stupid (and always very bloody).

Odd that it's Archangel you were replying to. Or perhaps Archangel was being ironic. :-)

I certainly hope his "kick in the door" was metaphorical, but IMO it's Russia's business whether Putin stays and from everything I've read he is the head of an ex-USSR corrupt elite.
Russia will continue to decline. Autocracy/kleptocracy and lack of democracy always ends in failure.

Sorry to upset people but it’s time for NATO to get directly involved against Russia.

Putin needs to be removed whatever the cost.

We are told that because of climate change the world is on the verge of extinction anyway.

So, it matters not. Launch everything at Russia.

Regardless of modern nukes many will still survive with the correct knowledge or luck.

Climate change is no longer an issue. AI is gonna destroy the world in two years and all hell will be let loose when the environmentally deranged lunatics catch on.

Climate denying conspiracy theorist. Robots aren't going to take over otherwise if a robot police officer stopped my car for speeding I would just undo all its nuts and bolts with a spanner and it would fall apart

That's my concern about sending the Abrams M1A2 tanks into Ukraine. The Russians might just get spanners out and take the tanks apart.

I don;t understand. Russia sabotages a dam and causes misery and economic/environmental impacts for years to come and you post a cartoon that no-one but you knows what point you're trying to make.

Pfff, "cartoon that no-one but you knows"... Not so long ago dr. David Livesey from this cartoon was an internet phenomenon, everybody was taking about him, do you live under a rock?)

As for this damn dam... You gov will say (they are silent yet, but there is no doubt who will be appointed guilty) russians did it, my gov will say ua and its superfriends did it. It was like that already, with the pipe, remember? These are not the last technogenic disasters we are witnessing. Thank ruling class and their warmongering hyenas.

Apparently there are Presidential elections in Russia in 2024 also. But I suppose we have to use the term election losely here. And people who pose any threat to Putin usually end up in jail, or dead...

I clearly do live under a rock. I stil have no idea what you're talking about. What relevance does Dr David Livesey (a fictional character) have to this debate?
Putin has just flooded Ukraine in the same way we did against the Nazi's. Both morally reprehensible. But in one case essential in the face of a megalomaniacal tyrant. In Putin's case a cynical tactic.
How feeble that a "superpower" feels the need to cut a single road at the cost of massive flooding and damage to an economy that he hopes to take control of.

The guy is running out of options. That worries me a lot.

I don't think the aim was to cut off a single road but to cause chaos, reduce the battlefield and cause pain and misery to thousands of Ukrainians. I'm sure the sadistic narcissist takes great pleasure from human suffering and deserves his place in history alongside Vlad the Impaler.

I don't think pleasure comes into it. It's meglamaniacal cynicism and a lack of of humanity. Putin is like Dracula. An amoral bloodsucker.

Shouldn't really be chatting while trading a cup final but I'm sure he'll be rubbing his hands with glee every time a missile raid kills or causes misery to Ukrainians.

Sean Bell was saying on Sky News that Hitler had the RAF on its knees at one point, but when the Allies bombed German cities he made the mistake of favouring revenge over strategy; he sent his bombers to London instead of destroying military targets, allowing the RAF to regroup and rebuild. Putin has no military command experience, he's all about revenge and ego.

I doubt Putin has ever been near a battle in his life.
