700 boat people crossed on Sunday … good to see you are crushing the ‘gangs’ Sir Kier!
One month is hardly realistic. The Tories had 14 years.
Actually that number was 1 day, not a month. The count announced today is 5,000 since Sir Kier became PM but hey, I’m happy to wait … when do you think would be reasonable to make an evaluation? I’m confident. 😊
The question, I have a profitable bot, how long does it have to make a profit before I can be confident? springs to mind. All depends on what plans Starmer implements, but you can't expect him to reduce numbers in one month, especially after the mess the Tories left the country in. The NHS and prison system is probably a priority.

Derek you are and intelligent guy, I just can’t see why you don’t see that £86,000 is substantially larger than £11,343
That's got nothing to do with it. If her end of month balance has dropped by £500, if it's the cost-of-living crisis, i.e. purely down to basic spending on food and bills, pensioners balances could fall by the same amount. She can afford it, pensioners can't', that's the point she appears to be making. I don't think you would see it because whenever a Labour politician speaks, you only observe how it can be negatively interpreted.
So that £86,000 is nearly 8 times greater than £11,343 has nothing to do with it! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Yes, if electricity goes up five pence per kWh, it's gone up five pence per kWh, whether you're on £86K or £11K. Anyone with a basic understanding of arithmetic can calculate what effect it would have on the other. She was basically saying, if my end-of-month balance is going down, it must be atrocious for pensioners. That's my interpretation and that of others. You're as welcome to draw your own negative interpretation as you are to vote Tories. :)

It's one of those evenings where it rains only enough to annoy you if you want to sit in the garden, not enough to water the lawn.

Love rain personally, hottest few days of the year for me I think so really wouldn't mind a spot of rain this week.

How's your treatment going, I trust you are keeping up with the new habits?

I've just received a gas bill for a five-day period, total charge, £2.46. What is wrong with these flipping idiots??

They replaced my meter for a smart meter but didn't give me the old reading. I could be getting ripped off for all I know!

Wouldn't mind living where you are. I had a pack of fags a couple of days ago because it was a nice hot day but I won't be getting any more, not for a while at least. :)

The tumour has shrunk, but my swallowing isn't any better. They're considering pausing the chemo for targeted radiotherapy and I could be having a stent inserted into the oesophagus that will allow me to eat more.

Strangely enough, what I miss most isn't burgers and chips, kebabs, pizzas, etc. It's the good-old-fashioned slice of toast with butter, or a slice of toast under my fried/scrambled eggs. :)

Hi Derek,

I've not been following this thread but strangely just received an email notification for it :?:

Reading your last reply about an 'an issue with your oesophagus'? Just wondering if that is a result of acid reflux (GERD). Mine is getting worse and worse, no matter what food I cut out or meds I try, and know it can lead to issues with my oesophagus that I'm try to avoid, so far with limited success... :(

Hope you're on the mend anyway 👍

Not heard of a stent before, hopefully that's not as uncomfortable as it sounds and looks :) But the fact it has shrunk is a positive step for sure.

Yep, it's always the simple things like a slice of toast that somehow matter the most, like they say happiness is finding joy in the little things ;)

Keep at it and stay positive though. Don't sweat any potential haters either, everyone's bound to have a few :D

Sounds like a situation better suited for the situation thread :)

Or Twitter perhaps? Amazingly they boast 600 million active users, yet not a single one has ever won an argument.

No, unfortunately it's cancer. But my idiot doctors treated it as acid reflux for over a year before sending me to the hospital to have it checked out. If you have problems swallowing (dysphagia), there's nothing wrong with a doctor prescribing acid reflux tablets to see if it gets any better, but they shouldn't pissing about with tablets for a whole year.

I hope your GERD gets better, good luck.

Don't know if it's true, but I've heard, and can well believe it, that if you sign up via a charity mugger to give £10 a month, the first year of donations goes into their pocket. I'm sure many people will only sign up for a year, so that would be paying the mugger £120 for not raising any money!

Don't know why people don't simply go straight to the website and cut out the middle bird (it's usually a seductive bird!).

As of December 2022, X/Twitter's audience accounted for over 368 million monthly active users worldwide. This figure was projected to decrease to approximately 335 million by 2024, a decline of around five percent compared to 2022

I wonder if any 'illegal' immigrants have Twitter accounts ?

Sorry to hear that Derek, I know it gives little solace the fact that treatment methods are the best they've ever been right now, but hopefully they've caught it in time.
I'm having to fight with the GP now to get him to look with a camera, as I know untreated it can cause similar problems.

I think the system is well an truly 'down the toilet!'

Glad the medics are on it now. Things change once they can see what they are dealing with. It's all about outcomes.
They seem to be paying attention now. I'm wishing you well.
