So, the new government is looking into banning smoking outside pubs, clubs, restaurants and stadiums.

My god, I don’t smoke anymore but come on, this is ridiculous.

You can’t just say smoking costs the NHS £50 billion a year, how much does fat people cost the NHS per year and drinking. You going to ban fat people and drinking too ?

It’s going to get to the point whereby you need to work until your 70, not allowed to smoke, drink, be overweight or disagree with the government.

What a shit show….
Let's face it. The UK has always been led by a dickhead. But at least we've elected the best dickhead available, from the choice we had. :D

I don't understand why they force punters to go through all this "first come, first served, sitting online for hours only for the site to crash" ticket crap.

Why not just have a full ballot for tickets for each date, max 4 per household for one date only. If you win the ballot you are assigned the tickets, to whichever agent, and have say, 3 days, to pay, You don't pay and the tickets get reassigned to the next in line. That would also stop people buying multiple tickets for multiple venues and allow the average, poor, fan a chance.

Or is that too simplistic/sensible ?

Yes register and a ballot would be better and fairer IMO however you'll have the usual nut jobs on the left saying not enough black people got tickets or Scottish people only got 0.11% or no tranny's got any of tickets etc

Also need to make the re-sale of tickets over the face value illegal and fully enforce it.

Tickets go on sale, and only allowed to be re-sold by the same agent at the same price they were sold anyone advertising/selling tickets outside of this the tickets are cancelled, a day in court followed by a £5,000 fine per ticket to the individual the and website advertising them.

Whoever is putting the event on Oasis, Taylor Swift, FIFA whatever are also fined. Were just playing the gig and not responsible for tickets doesn't wash anymore start hitting them in the pocket as well.

Just make it a free market. If someone wants to buy and sell tickets let them get on with it. I don't see why it's any different to buying and selling anything for a profit. Nobody complains when someone on Bargain Hunt pays £20 for something at a carboot sale and flogs it for £30 at auction.

If the band cares then instruct the venue to strictly limit sales per person. Otherwise why should the venue care who buys them?

Absolutely NO WAY should non- official third parties be allowed to batch buy tickets to sell them on again to make a profit !!
It's downright WRONG

In all seriousness, I'm surprised by the amount of anti free market and anti capitalist sentiment on show in this forum, given the fundamentals of Betfair trading leverage exactly those principles.

I'm talking 'tickets' - football, concert, theatre - prices are a rip-off as it is - we don't want to be ripped off again

OK. Respect your view. The situation now is entirely of the Tory government's making.
Bottom line is tech advances aren't filtering down through society. We have a massive problem that no-one is addressing, Tech means we have too many with zero skills to make a living. This isn't their problem, it's ours. We are a society. We need to try harder to give everyone a chance. This will cost the better paid, but will benefit us all in the long run. The alternative was presented to us a few weeks ago.
You should change your forum name to GreenMarX
not a bad idea.. how about also, FourFucksAche :D

Do you have an idealogy that means a lot to you? Personally, I don't. But I am always open to differet views.I've dabbled with religion, socialism, right wing etc but none answer my questions. The closest I've come to epiphany is buddhism. I think I like this view of life but it's flipping hard to live by.

Yes

Exactly the opposite of what our Western Leaders/Politicians have delivered us over the past 25 years

That isn't an idealogy is it? I don't like what my "leaders" hav done for more than 14 years. But disliking is not the same as having a view on how we should do things differently.

Ok , I'll try and make it simple as I can for you to understand .....

My ideology was living the 'English' way of life ....

Before 27 years ago, before Tony Blair came along in 1997 and all the Politicians we've had since, who have destroyed that way of life, leaving this country in an absolute and utter mess as it is today.

My ideology in the not too distant future is living somewhere abroad and experiencing a different way of life, it could be anywhere apart from the following countries where apparently Brits are not welcome anymore: - bovvered !!

Recovering from surgery to my oesophagus. Can't fault the nursing staff who do an incredible job under very difficult circumstances, but I was ready to be discharged at 11:00 yesterday. Just had to wait for my morphine prescription from the hospital pharmacist ... which arrived at 16:00!

That's five hours of unnecessarily holding up a bed in a full ward, and five hours my relatives had to wait around. By the time they got me home we didn't have much quality time together before they had to leave for London.

There's got to be a better procedure. If they can fast-track blood tests when they're urgent, you'd think they can fast-track a prescription to free-up a bed in a full ward!
