Switched everything off yesterday, including the fridge, and I'm on tract for 16 hours of free electricity. :D

I'm baffled. How can you switch off your fridge?

Four three hours. Food doesn't defrost that quickly. If you don't open the door the temperature will only rise a 2-3 degrees.

I see.
You clearly like a challenge. But I couldn't save enough to justify doing that and with my absent-mindedness I'd forget to switch it back on and have to bin the contents. :-)

You could use a timer on the socket

Thats true, but I still can't see it's worth the effort with the fridge/freezer. The oven is the heaviest usage. The dishwasher also with the washer next.
But all the electric pale into insignificance vs gas central heating during cold weather. Saving on that isn't really an option.

I've just experimented with this by necessity because I woke up to a 'moist' freezer on Saturday morning! Thankfully I had 2 freezers so was able to transfer some from the failed freezer to fill the other freezer to the brim. And have some very well insulated freezer bags that I use when sailing (I mean 'proper' freezer bags, not the get your frozen purchases home from the shop type bags!). I found they could keep solid ice items such as soups/casseroles etc. frozen for more than 24 hours so I swap the contents of the freezer/freezer bags every morning. New freezer arriving tomorrow. :D

Agreed, the temperature gain of a well insulated fridge/freezer should be minimal and therefore to maintain it low should not cost too much. How about getting one of those plug-in consumption meters and taking samples of many items.

I have a smart meter with the jolly old in house display which is accurate and useful with electric but currently at least a day behind for gas for some bizarre reason.
With electric on average the standing charge is 25 to 33% and the fridge is probably 30p a day, if that.

Turns out the Judge told Tommy he would get a reduced sentence if he took down a video on his website. Tommy said “No” and therefore got 18 months. Normally after 7 months he would be paroled with good behaviour but it looks like he will be freed in < 5 months, with good behaviour.
Obviously I had heard of TR and how he was presented by the media and the establishment but I had never bothered to delve and learn more. That is until this thing about his video recently became news again and I became curious. I wondered what he had said that could result in such condemnation so I tracked it down to https://rumble.com/embed/v2ntg1u/ expecting a short Youtube type video so the first thing that caught my attention was that it is 1:48 long!

I was further intrigued and started to watch, expecting to see a load of unsubstantiated rambling ... but didn't. If you have not watched it all through I would ask you to do so and help me understand why it should be banned, I can't see why other than it does expose some very uncomfortable issues. He makes many claims that are in the main substantiated by others on video. Frankly it stinks of the lack of action taken towards the grooming gangs but in this case worse because the judge is portrayed as being determined to find the Asian boy and his community as the innocent victims.

Either TR is a professional threat to Stephen Spielberg or there is something here that should be investigated but it never will because the Establishment never investigates itself until backed so far into a corner it has no alternative.

I’m not sure that’s the correct video. I think the one the Judge was referring to is where TR named someone who he later went onto have to pay damages too.

However, Judges don’t like contempt of court issues. They tend to throw the book at you.

TR is considered a threat to national security on a number of levels. I bet when he gets released he will be rearrested and have to explain what money he was living on in Cyprus. If turns out to be from a Russian friend then you can imagine where that will go. He will be subject to an HMRC audit going back 20 years and during the investigation will only be allowed to withdraw £50 per day from his bank accounts.

My problem is, between 16:00 and 19:00, I'm either out or trading with just two laptops and a TV on. So my fridge is consuming the bulk of the electricity at that time. But if I can get my 16 hours of free electricity on Sunday, I can run the washing machine, cook a roast dinner and do the hoovering, consuming £3 worth of energy, and get something back from these thieving bastards that charge enough anyway. :D

Derek, why don’t you buy a EcoFlow DELTA 2 Portable Power Station. Charge it up at off peak periods and then let it power whatever you need, you can add power packs to it if need be ?

I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him. Bottom line is he's been convicted and jailed for contempt of the justice system. He's at best a self-publicist and at worst a far-right agitator.
All of his "witnesses'''' had the option to make statements to the police, but diidn't. Perhaps perjury laws do have some weight after all.

Are you being serious? I live in a ground floor flat, don't use much electricity and they only hold just over 1 kilowatt of power. It wouldn't save any money.
