In fairness, there were more reasons to not vote for Trump than to vote for Harris. Or the main reason to vote for Harris is that Trump would win otherwise. But one of the big problems besides Trump himself is the stupidity of some of his followers. He says migrants are eating cats and dogs and they believe him!
Harris said a lot of dumb stuff herself. I'm neutral more or less but when your own side is talking rubbish saying the other side is doesn't seem like the flex they think it is. The electorate tend to care more about who they think will be better for their bank balance and personal safety. Maybe anti-war if they're more world-view focused.

TLDR: A mud slinging match is the default and doesn't matter much either way.

Also the best things for the left to say they probably cant say as it would fall under national security restrictions and maybe expose themselves too. They should have focused on things like Trump said he wasn't a warmonger but he did continue occupations of places like Syria. The left don't understand people as well. IMO.

Might be too soon but what do we think of the possibility of a Vance/Musk ticket next time round?

They played into his hands, they made it about him, don't vote for Trump, Trump is a sexist, Trump is a racist, Trumps a crook, Trump this, Trump that. Even the failed assassination attempts played into his hands. And the media jumped on board and lapped it up, all it did was rally his supports to get out and vote on mass and they did

Rule in politics, any publicity is good publicity.

They were lazy and it has bitten them in the arse

Not looking forward to hearing Trump talk for another four years. Wish the would-be assassin succeeded now.
Good to be open about your version of democracy!

Your typical American lives in a great country, wants liberty, freedom and lack of Goverment.
Quite a few Brits want the same!

All democratic leaning people should finally begin to wake up and realise it was never the default setting they assumed it was, but hard fought for.

Just another ideology... :(

So the market was a better predictor than polls in this case!

(still a bit stunned at how easy it appears to have been for him given polls)

edit - mind you the Brexit market was down to less than 1.1 to stay in EU as polls closed so maybe best not to read too much into it )

Just woke up to this and frankly I'm amazed I had zero opinion and placed no bets.

Too much confirmation bias/belief perseverance for me, with people mostly betting big against Trump, although seen some early backers as well.

My condolences to the losers as I imagine a lot of people were stung.

Starmer will now build up to taking the UK back into the EU leading up to the next election

Didn't go well at the Harris party. They all went home. Surprised Harris didn't come out and make a speach thanking them for voting for her.
