Don't forget the cost paid for by the taxpayers, especially the pensioners who cannot strike for more money and have lost their winter fuel paymentsionascaig wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 2:17 pmGood to see you and Greta on the same side )firlandsfarm wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 11:47 am"... the UK sent an incredible 470 delegates to the UN climate change summit in Azerbaijan...

Each return flight pumps out at least 0.7 tons of CO2 per passenger, making the delegation’s flights’ total carbon footprint at least 338 tons of CO2."
Good to see they cut the carbon footprint to a minimum then!
I still think there should be a system for pensioners that don't need the winter fuel allowance to put it back into the system, tax free to be redistributed to those that need it.firlandsfarm wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 3:58 pmDon't forget the cost paid for by the taxpayers, especially the pensioners who cannot strike for more money and have lost their winter fuel paymentsionascaig wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 2:17 pmGood to see you and Greta on the same side )firlandsfarm wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 11:47 am"... the UK sent an incredible 470 delegates to the UN climate change summit in Azerbaijan...

I have to say if you are such a eco warrior supporter, what are you doing on a trading site that is so against eco Ideals, that makes no sense to me.ForFolksSake wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 6:47 pmHow long before the youngsters start blaming you and your age group for the Climate Crisesconduirez wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 6:31 pmThe only thing I can think of is, I made a comment about Greta (the eco saint)ForFolksSake wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 3:41 pm

Three horses died at Cheltenham today, trainers drive their horses 100's of miles a week to meetings, Jockeys drive 100's of miles a week to courses, some use helicopters and planes, all polluting the atmosphere all leaving a carbon footprint, the horses that are not part of the food chain (unless they end up in France) give out major amounts of nasty gasses. There are lots of people who drive to the meetings as well.
Maybe your forte is not horse racing, maybe it's dog racing, the unethical way that dogs are treated at the end of their racing life, they don't all go to good homes, they also contribute to greenhouse gasses, they travel around to tracks, especially for open races, their kennels are not at the tracks. There are lots of people who drive to the meetings as well.
Maybe you like team sports Football, Cricket, Rugby, these involve a lot of travel, I have been watching the Aussie BBL, there are a lot of UK players there. England football team played in Greece the other day, all those supporters who flew there as well. There is a lot of international rugby union going on at the moment teams traveling across the world to play each other.
I am not going to go on and on, but if you are on this site you are either a hypocrite or you like to think of yourself as a pro eco warrior even though you are really not. I think the latter is true because here you still are.
Phew ! for a moment I thought you might be one of those 'Climate deniers'.conduirez wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 7:39 pmI have to say if you are such a eco warrior supporter, what are you doing on a trading site that is so against eco Ideals, that makes no sense to me.ForFolksSake wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 6:47 pmHow long before the youngsters start blaming you and your age group for the Climate Crises

The less 'climate deniers' we have on this forum the better
And it's good to know you are just as concerned about climate change as the young![]()

I fully agree GM but we that can afford to do without it are only a few of the claimed 10 million it has been taken away from.greenmark wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 5:18 pmI still think there should be a system for pensioners that don't need the winter fuel allowance to put it back into the system, tax free to be redistributed to those that need it.firlandsfarm wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 3:58 pmDon't forget the cost paid for by the taxpayers, especially the pensioners who cannot strike for more money and have lost their winter fuel payment
It's a worthy system, but a bit nuts IMO. Does a millionaire need a few hundred?
I agree conduirez, my thinking was we are constantly being labelled as bad boys and girls if we cause unnecessary CO2 emissions but it's another case of do as we say and not as we do! The Net Zero policy is simply to attract the JSO vote but it's a game they are going to have to play for 5 years.conduirez wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 6:31 pmSo what's your point I don't get it, what does it matter how far I flew for my leisure with my money.
I am no eco warrior and global warming won't be beaten by a few prats like JSO idiots or Greta, or a bunch of woke nutters, it will be beaten by technology. It's happening now science and technology have given us or opening up opportunities for, wind turbines, solar panels, renewable fuels, Hydro Electrics, indoor farming without the need for light, the list goes on and on.
The only thing I can think of is, I made a comment about Greta (the eco saint) and you I think are her biggest fan.
Keir Starmer net zero policyand there he is flying 470 delegates to Baku, can you imagine the bar bill, lets face it, it was a beano, we have Zoom now, WhatsApp so many computer aided devices we fly 470 people there. Macron did not go, Biden did not go, in fact United States, China, India, Canada, and Japan never sent any representatives. It is a joke event.
Yes, the technology is just not there yet.Archery1969 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 9:36 pmYou can’t go back and fix the past. It’s done and settled.
It wil be too late when it is there unless your going to share it with USA, China, Russia and India. They are the world’s biggest polluters by far. And they won’t care until it really is too late.Kai wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 9:37 pmYes, the technology is just not there yet.Archery1969 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 9:36 pmYou can’t go back and fix the past.
