Last night I was waiting for Betfair to add a match market for the Premier League final in the aftermath of the second semi. It did not appear quickly and when it did, the market was showing as suspended on the one-click screen, which was itself completely blank. I refreshed the market list and reopened the market a few times, but it was exactly the same.

The ladder screen, however, was populated with money at a variety of prices. It was not showing as suspended. I clicked on the ladder at my chosen price - nothing happened. No money matched; no change to my overall liability. There was no activity showing on the ladder at all.

On returning to the market 60 seconds later I discovered that my earlier click on the ladder had actually matched and I was exposed for the best part of a hundred quid. I suspect this experience was the result of how BF added the market to the exchange.

I didn’t really know where to post this. I just wanted to make you all aware lest you encounter the same phenomenon.
