It's almost impossible to moderate political threads as everybody reports everybody. I'd almost prefer not to have any threads. But I'm hopeful discussion can centre on the markets.ShaunWhite wrote: ↑Thu May 01, 2025 8:00 pmWhy do you think it's acceptable to be so offensive?
You might consider that not everyone one here is a right winger. Stick to intelligent debate about a tradable market and leave the whining and unpleasantless at the door.
It's a shame the mods are more interested in blocking spam than maintaining a civilised environment.

Farage and his gang will only shorten odds-wise from here on in, I reckon.
Whilst I can't condone the rudeness of some (now deleted) comments by others, I absolutely share the sentiment. As does almost everyone I know.

Given the U.K. has for a long time been a satellite entity of the US, is it any wonder that a slimey populist con man is favourite to be next PM?
Impressive PR to have convinced enough people that the problem is immigrants who come to work and most studies illustrate are good for the economy, rather than the billionaire class who drain resources from every level of society.

Don’t take it so personally, but was it the insult of Garage or me having a pop at the lovely billionaires? Open to hearing the counter argument to my positions, both personally and professionally; I have backed Garage to be next PM and Reform to have the most seats as Reform are going to eat up a lot easier seats than Runcorn.Crazyskier wrote: ↑Fri May 02, 2025 2:22 pmWow. We've a similar politician in my locality, only he's minister for finance now!Euler wrote: ↑Fri May 02, 2025 11:12 amThat describes most MPS in my opinion. Remember, you don't need any qualifications or training to be an MP, no interview, nothing. You rock up, spout a load, and get elected if the wind is with you.
We had a Lib Dem MP elected in my region by a few hundred votes. She has no experience of anything and is entirely useless. During the general election, she was evasive and couldn't answer simple questions about her background or experience. She will not retain her seat at the next election. By then, she will have pocketed £500k and not achieved anything for the region.
Nice job if you can get it!
I'm not convinced of how the system is run and how decisions are made. I think that reflects the views of a lot of people and why we see this see-saw in politics.
He did a law degree, then a medicine degree, then ran for local council on the basis that he was a nephew of Brian Lenihan (Minister for finance that was basically strong-armed into bailing the banks out for 64B in late 00's) Went from local council to elected TD (our MP's) been minister for state, government chief whip, and now minister for finance - and he's literally never held a regular job in his 34 years! No idea about job/life balance, working overtime, career change, anything normal people come across in their lives.
Keeps getting elected though cos the posh part of the district is staunchly Fianna Fail and Fine Gael so both parties always get at least 2 out of the 5 seats.
