I am another forum lurker. I remember when you first joined the forum and noting how fast your post count was going up. From all the other replies on this thread it seems unanimous your contributions and personality were appreciated by most.

I'm saddened to see the news of your prognosis and wish you peace over the coming weeks. You will be greatly missed.

It's heartwarming to read the comments in this thread, yet so sad it's usually under such horrible circumstances that people get to see/hear such thoughts about them.

I've really enjoyed the optimism, humour and advice you've spread on here over the years. Not only patient and helpful with newbies, but also a nice tonic to some of the cold numbers chat!

Also enjoyed the touch of madness you've brought to the forum at times

Best wishes to you, mate.

Never had a nasty exchange with Derek on here, not a single one. Takes character to post such an update. Derek you will be remembered fondly by me as someone who never rose to the bait. Comfort and serenity to you.

I reverted to lurking here, years ago, and only saw this by accident. Simply wanted to say how shocked and saddened I am to read this thread and to give my best wishes.

Terrible news.

One of the most combative of conributors, but pretty much always correct which is a unique quality. I wish you well.

I've made some good friends on this forum which I regret not meeting and also made some of my very best enemies.
Much love Derek, thanks for taking the boredom out of my trading sessions at times. I'll catch you on the flipside.

Honestly though, it's been a pleasure. You're probably one of the main reasons I stayed so active during those golden forum years. They were a blast for me, I was often just laughing my arse off :D

Btw, this gif might look familiar. When it comes to internet wrestling and minor tomfoolery... best damn partner I ever had 🏆

Hi Derek ,

New to this game, I have been reading and diving into threads for a little while.

Never more has a personality on a chat forum screamed that the man behind the keyboard was one of life's remarkable people.

Wishing you comfort,

Hey, I missed this thread and only found it because I was researching something and whilst doing so I thought "haven't seen anything from Derek recently and I know how prolific he is but I also know he has some medical problems recently ... hope he's OK" so I looked at your recent posts and found this thread. We didn't always see eye-to-eye  but that never meant that I disrespected your thoughts, just that maybe I didn't agree with them. But there were many I whole heartedly did agree with especially when you pointed out the bleeding obviousness of everyday things. I already miss not seeing your snippets ... be brave my friend, you helped a lot of people here (and probably elsewhere) and you made lots of us smile. :D I hope I'm not too late. I know your love for music, your troubles remind me of David Bowie's last record (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-JqH1M4Ya8).

Indeed. Been browsing these last few weeks and the forum has never felt emptier, no Derek no party.

Somehow reminds of that Eminem song : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVkUvmD ... VkUvmDQ3HY

Never knew this about David Bowie, he dropped a banger new album in his final few days without anyone knowing anything

BTW, don't know about others but whenever I tried to mediate your endless political debates I was also secretly hoping it wouldn't work :D

That is so very sad to hear - I only had a few comments over the years from your posts but I will always remember the one with your grass growing on the back lawn and your cat.

Thanks for taking the time to get so actively involved.

Hope that you are as comfortable as can be.
