I don't get this recent 'guilty by association' obsession. Having a criminal as a friend does not automatically make them delinquent or a bad ambassador to the US.

Yup...

I think it has more to do with his ongoing support & failure to disclose before appointment. Like Andy, it showed a remarkable lack of judgement which ain't a good look for an Ambassador or Royal.

The irony is we, as a state, have asked the King to host a Royal reception for a someone that is a felon, convicted of sexual assault & had very close ties to Epstein..

It doesn't make him a bad president though !

This is correct! Judge a politician on their political actions, not their personal life.

In Trump's case, it's not as if his opponents have nothing relevant to leverage, yet they go after this! Probably more interested in Facebook likes and Tiktok views.

There's no hard evidence but in public life it's as much about how it looks and not what it was. To be bearing in mind the underlying crimes that photo of Mandy in a bath robe was asking for trouble!
