Never went to one because i didn't want to miss out on trading days but these VIP meets must have had an bizarre dynamic back in the day. Mixing the big losers with the the very people fleecing them, did the losers just pretend they were winners?

I can confirm this, I went to the infamous covid Cheltenham event which mixed both in the same tent. The most bizarre part was the corner consisting of screens / laptops for people to logon and bet. There where a few there glued to them all day, watching the race via a screen whilst it happened live behind them.

And yes they did all give the appearance of winning, from memory there must have been 20+ tables of 10 with only one for ‘premium’.

Surely these people were trading weren't they? Faster pics live at the event and the angle for drones at Cheltenham is not great. Probably loads of money to be made sat at a PC there.

What has happened to personal responsibility?
Gambler loses £1M: Blames regulation, loses in court
Bank ceo loses £24B: Blames regulation, wins in court

I think the lesson is if someone wants to do risky shite, make sure it aint your money
