Libre isn't great. You might as well pick up a full copy of Office from somewhere like CJS keys for about 10-20quid.
Hi Shaun,
Thanks for that I have an older copy of XL and it only codes in VBA
.Just wondered if Libre worked with BA because it has Python capabilities .I have just found out however that modern versions of XL also has Python capabilities , predominantly however it's in Office 365..another MS spy in the sky ,so they can shove that where the sun dont shine.
I will plod on with VBA in XL with BA stuff and use Libre for other kinds of analysis..non BA related.

You can still get office 2024 pro on a perpetual licence. No annual subs. But if you're worried about MS spyware you should ditch Windows.tico wrote: ↑Sat Nov 29, 2025 12:15 pmHi Shaun,

Hi Shaun.
It's difficult getting around the world's number one disease (after war) ..windows .I have 4 boxes running Linux and two running windows. BA is written for windows and I have tried layering it via Wine (on a Linux box) to get BA and other stuff running but with no great success .I believe it can be done through a virtual windows setup but I just can't be bothered and it will probably be full of bugs.

I've never had too much of an issue with Windows really. And I use Windows Server on my VPS. It's a lot more secure and lightweight than desktop and it doesn't force updates on you either. You know your stuff though so I don't need to sell the idea.tico wrote: ↑Sat Nov 29, 2025 7:29 pmHi Shaun.

Yes I've succeeded. No forced restarts since I amended this option in September. You need to also set your PC to metered connection. viewtopic.php?p=382899&hilit=updates#p382899Big Bad Barney wrote: ↑Mon Dec 01, 2025 4:54 amHope it's ok to ask here, maybe it'll get buried..im gonna try anywayShaunWhite wrote: ↑Sat Nov 29, 2025 8:18 pmI use Windows Server on my VPS. It's been a while since I tried as I got tired of banging my head on the wall. I had also thought windows server did the same force reboot thing (which is full on retarded)...so it's probably me that has it wrong

Thank you!
