Libre isn't great. You might as well pick up a full copy of Office from somewhere like CJS keys for about 10-20quid.

Hi Shaun,
Thanks for that I have an older copy of XL and it only codes in VBA :o .Just wondered if Libre worked with BA because it has Python capabilities .I have just found out however that modern versions of XL also has Python capabilities , predominantly however it's in Office 365..another MS spy in the sky ,so they can shove that where the sun dont shine. I will plod on with VBA in XL with BA stuff and use Libre for other kinds of analysis..non BA related.

You can still get office 2024 pro on a perpetual licence. No annual subs. But if you're worried about MS spyware you should ditch Windows.

Hi Shaun.
It's difficult getting around the world's number one disease (after war) ..windows .I have 4 boxes running Linux and two running windows. BA is written for windows and I have tried layering it via Wine (on a Linux box) to get BA and other stuff running but with no great success .I believe it can be done through a virtual windows setup but I just can't be bothered and it will probably be full of bugs.

I've never had too much of an issue with Windows really. And I use Windows Server on my VPS. It's a lot more secure and lightweight than desktop and it doesn't force updates on you either. You know your stuff though so I don't need to sell the idea.

Hope it's ok to ask here, maybe it'll get buried..im gonna try anyway :).... Has anyone had any experience or luck getting windows 11 to NOT auto reboot randomly? It's been a while since I tried as I got tired of banging my head on the wall. I had also thought windows server did the same force reboot thing (which is full on retarded)...so it's probably me that has it wrong :)

What version of Windows Server do you run on the VPS?

Yes I've succeeded. No forced restarts since I amended this option in September. You need to also set your PC to metered connection. viewtopic.php?p=382899&hilit=updates#p382899

I must say....that's very clever... no wonder you beat me at this trading game and take all my money :) I've banged my head many times messing with group policy and regedit hacks. There was even a good tool that worked for a while WUB (Windows Update Blocker). In my travels across the internet I had not run into this suggested before. I'll give that a crack.

Mind you, the tired weary googling thing inside me tells me...just get windows server dude...

Thank you!

Win Server 2016 Datacentre Edition....if it aint broke don't fix it. And Microsoft continues to provide security updates, until 12 January 2027. But you can choose Win Server 2016, 2019 or 2022 on my VPS.
