Hello all,

Thought I'd share this as I've used betangel software.

I was court-siding tennis this week at a wta event. Market traded over a million. However, I lost money.

I was often sending signals before the point had finished (When it was obvious a shot was overhit or was going into the net). However, it still didn't really give enough of an edge for the bet to be placed (Had someone off court placing the bets).

Use some offshore UK bookmakers also with latency on their sportsbook (I'm not uk based). Managed to get very few bets through.

I was able to place some bets live at the court using BetAngel as no one seemed to care. Even though I was easily 3 to 4 seconds ahead of the female umpire pressing the button the edge was still very small or I didn't get matched/skipped.

Not sure if anyone still does this successfully in here (I assume it's still done judging by the amount of money in the markets) and has evolved to purely a numbers game, e.g put massive bets through and take what you can get...

Put it another way I made more trading in the evening from my airbnb then courtsiding. In some ways it was depressing.

Hope this isn't against the rules to discuss. Thought it would be interesting.

interesting read thanks for sharing your experience

here in melbourne all of these are <30min away from my apartment last year:  rod laver arena, flemington racecourse, Melbourne Cricket Ground, John Cain arena (basketball), multiple afl stadiums

I almost worked for StatsPerform last year as a data scout — they pay you to collect data at live events and it gets sold to bm's and they have global coverage, these are the kind of guys you're up against.

it only takes one person to send the data through to a <10ms VPS and have automation capitalise

I would imagine the edge is purely in finding venues that aren't already covered

I have no knowledge about tennis courtsiding, but given what I know about the cricket industry, there are probably professional courtsiders there placing bets directly into Betfair using direct triggers through a rooted phone.

You're unlikely to beat them by sending signals to a mate back on a PC.

I wondered about this.

I actually attempted to do it, but It seemed you needed a betfair API. Was somewhat way above my head.

I was using a rooted phone so certain triggers were sent when pressing volume up to volume down.

When I was actually placing the bets myself at the court side straight into betfair or the bookie I was using it was still very hit and miss.
