Looking at a market replay now. In the last few yards there was thousands traded on the beaten 6th horse at around 5.0. And the clear winner was 1.25 on the line.

Yes, TPD was correct. I was smashing the winner wondering what was going on, and then there was a few seconds of sheer horror when I saw the colours and thought it was a transponder swap.eightbo wrote: ↑Fri Jun 19, 2026 3:56 pmfingers crossed you caught that via tpdjamesedwards wrote: ↑Fri Jun 19, 2026 3:44 pm15:40, Opportunity and Hopewell Rock had the wrong caps on!![]()

good job! how common is transponder swap in your experience?jamesedwards wrote: ↑Fri Jun 19, 2026 4:02 pmYes, TPD was correct. I was smashing the winner wondering what was going on, and then there was a few seconds of sheer horror when I saw the colours and thought it was a transponder swap.
isn't it fascinating how many good edges across all mkts simply as a result of human mistake somewhere along the chain.
it's days like today that put me off manual to begin with, not worth the stress, weeks of focused grinding to be thrown in the bin in seconds for a few today.
i've hit some fliers since the festi started but in all honesty I couldn't care too much, how things change over the years

Transponder swaps in the UK are very uncommon, perhaps a couple a year. Plus at ATR tracks you have the safety net of error flags if TPD spot a swap after they leave the paddock. But an unflagged swap in a huge race like at Royal Ascot would be nightmare scenario.
It's a different story in other countries though, perhaps a handful of swaps a month. My biggest single loss ever (low 5 figures) was due to a transponder swap at Golden Gate Fields. I've amended my automation to significantly cap exposure since then.

Delaying a 28-runner class 2 handicap at Royal Ascot to try and reshoe a 130/1 shot.

Finding the under girth dropped in the parade ring saved me a grand.
