Its 38C outside and about the same inside fan on but blowing warm air up me crotch. It's not worth trading in these conditions. The advice given in 1976 was to wear a string vest drink beer and eat salt and vinegar crips. See man in photo. For the last few days Ive been sleeping in the cellar next to a fridge full of beer a box a salt and vinegar crisps and just the undies no string vest. How is everyone else that doesnt have AC coping?

Ha !

Reminds me of my 2005 Poker bot farm setup. I used to sit in my pants in my loft every month of the year - pre VM days. Heat output was crazy

Portable air conditional units are essential.

One in the 'trading' room. One in the bedroom.

It's barely touched 30 in Lincs. Pleasant but not unbearable. My lad's in the Midlands working under a tin roof and it's been over 40. And no "hydration" break every 22 mins.

Back in 76 I was a student in my summer hols working as a binman for the local authority. One of the happiest summers of my life ,hard work but surrounded by some real characters..
Back then the heat was bearable nothing like this stuff we are getting now. When people who run the world tell us that market forces will solve the global warming problem ,then you know we are all up the famous Creek without a paddle.

There's been lots of years with max temperatures higher than today. You just didn't notice back then because you were younger and didn't have it forced down your throat.

34.2 °C 8 August 1975
35.9 °C 3 July 1976
34.4 °C 22 July 1989

Around 1977/78, I started playing for the local cricket club. If we fielded first, I'd be out in the hot sun, white shirt rolled up, white flannels, changing positions, running after the ball, no shade anywhere, didn't even wear a cap. We did have a hydration break with some orange squash brought on by the scorer.

I'd then have to open the batting, and run up and down a 22 yards strip of grass for the next hour (if I wasn't bowled out early). In those days, I didn't wear a helmet when batting (thankfully). Had a few deliveries whistle around my head nearly knocking me out cold....those were the days...

Not sure if health and safety would allow them to play in this type of heat though.

All single days:

day 4 here hovering between 42 and 43 (england home counties) ...quite frankly... unheard of .The sad thing is that every major political party (and that includes Reform) are trying to offload global warming to appease their capitalist controllers.

I'm well practiced to suriving the heat. Air con, with a second fan circulating the air. But's it still pretty toasty in there.

I installed solar and those panel get super hot in this weather.

Was it worth the effort in the end?
