Now down 1/3 since post IPO high. Or about $400bn.
All the TikToks videos demanding society contributes towards Elon Musk's losses. It's only fair, right?
The US govt are reallocating $200bn in education funding to AI. That leaves US education spending at around the -$200bn.
SpaceX results are out on 6th Aug and institutions can sell from the 9th. That's going to be an interesting week. (dates might be a day or two off, can't remember).
I think AI in education is an interesting area because if my children were in education now, I would be giving them full access to AI so that they can improve their understanding of key topics. They could probably even vibe code their own tutor.
I think whoever grabs the opportunity on the education front is going to produce a generational shift in knowledge and understanding.
It sort of feels, though, that people are going to fight tooth and nail to keep the existing structure.
I remember when I was at school, they didn't have anybody to teach computer science, and I had to go to the local polytechnic to be able to do any coding. That was completely unfunded by anybody, I had to do it off my own back. I told them I wanted to drop other subjects so that I could focus on it. They were really reluctant to let me do that, so I just stopped turning up to those classes.
When I finally did the O level, it was based upon 60s technology, it was terrible. I think a lot of education is looking in the rearview mirror.
