Now down 1/3 since post IPO high. Or about $400bn.
All the TikToks videos demanding society contributes towards Elon Musk's losses. It's only fair, right?
The US govt are reallocating $200bn in education funding to AI. That leaves US education spending at around the -$200bn. ;)

SpaceX results are out on 6th Aug and institutions can sell from the 9th. That's going to be an interesting week. (dates might be a day or two off, can't remember).

I think AI in education is an interesting area because if my children were in education now, I would be giving them full access to AI so that they can improve their understanding of key topics. They could probably even vibe code their own tutor.

I think whoever grabs the opportunity on the education front is going to produce a generational shift in knowledge and understanding.

It sort of feels, though, that people are going to fight tooth and nail to keep the existing structure.

I remember when I was at school, they didn't have anybody to teach computer science, and I had to go to the local polytechnic to be able to do any coding. That was completely unfunded by anybody, I had to do it off my own back. I told them I wanted to drop other subjects so that I could focus on it. They were really reluctant to let me do that, so I just stopped turning up to those classes.

When I finally did the O level, it was based upon 60s technology, it was terrible. I think a lot of education is looking in the rearview mirror.

In the US they're divierting money away from education and to AI.

The problem with 'AI' education is that it's fine for sciences, but includes inherent biases in the humanities, and devoid of original thinking and subjectivity in the arts. And over the facts layer there's the conversaionional layer which imo has a strong west coast, young, male, over-confident way of interpreting and presenting the information. Regional nuance and ways of communicating get lost and so does the tailoring eductaion to the recipient. A good teacher teaches each pupil differently depending on their individual personality, family situation and perrential ever changing teenage predicaments.

It's a good tool but only a tool.

Is anyone/everyone here waiting till the 6th to (maybe) close their short positions? Debating how far to ride the current trend.

I think its worth $80, and maybe less since the Chinese caught a rocket in a cage similar to the chopsticks etc.

Have bannked some profits at $120, but its now a free-roll, so willing to let it go down to whtat I think is fair value.

Yep, it's a fast moving space (pun) and aside from the Chinese competition a lot of the value in spacex does still hinge on a favourable govt. And I don't think we've even started to see the impact on the US economy overall yet of their shambolic monetary and geopolitical policies. They're firmly on the road to total economic failure.

There'll be some action around the psychological 100, and on the 6th but I can't see any serious reversal on the cards. I think I'll hang on to somewhere near the mark you said and reconsider. There's rumours about a tesla/spacex merger and I think that might sound some alarm bells rather suring up a the organisation.

I don’t really see how unlocking shares will be a catalyst for a price rise - but maybe they have some rabbits they can pull out of hats.Maybe a fair portion of the shorts are insiders locking in profits outside of the exclusion periods.

I do think a black swan event is “due”

Thinking about :

Aliens
Trump going missing
Putin being removed

Etc and how that might affect markets, and my summer holiday 😀😀
