Hi all,
There is little chance of Farage ever becoming PM ,and my early predictions of a hung parliament are now becoming less likely .I think we are witnessing the demise of Reform ,and a surge for labour support, although in reality there is very little difference between them .
So get your laying boots on

I imagine he will still be clear fav for next prime minister in the next market.
I dunno about that.
Tico

Farage clear fav for next PM.

Farage asks about Southport as terror.
Farage gets blamed for riots.
Farage vindicated by cover up. Almost silence.

Farage says political attack threats are worsening.
Farage's good friend, Ann gets killed.
Farage gets blamed for using her death.
Leftist arrested, disappears from news.

trade this pattern.

... record number of migrants on a single mega dinghy was reached on July 12 when 128 illegal immigrants made it to UK waters.

... A record 165 migrants crossed the Channel to the UK in a single boat on Thursday July 23

... that's approx two London double-decker bus loads

... at least Burnham is putting a cap on single bus tickets at £2

Some interesting facts there but at the end of the day it shows us how bad the world has become if people are so desperate they risk their lives to get to the UK .

France is a much nicer place to live. 12th on the worldwide ranking for immigrants compared to UK as the 15th. https://www.remitly.com/us/en/landing/t ... tion-index

The only reason I can see why they take such risk to reach the UK is the language. Perhaps English being the primary global language has become a double-edged sword?

You could be right about that.I think another thing could be visibility . It's easy to see people coming in on dingy's but in places like Italy ,Germany and France ,it's just a case of getting over the land borders.I asked for a comparison with Italy and got this:

No, Italy receives significantly more asylum applications than the UK.

Based on the latest available data, here is the direct comparison:
Time Period Italy UK
Full Year 2025 ~126,600 first-time applications ~82,100 applications (involving ~100,600 people)
2024 (latest annual data) ~151,525 applications (in the year ending June 2025) ~108,138 applications (calendar year 2024)
Per capita (2025) ~256 applicants per 100,000 people ~156 applicants per 100,000 people

Key takeaways:

In total numbers, Italy received about 54% more applications than the UK in 2025.

On a per-capita basis (adjusting for population size), Italy also has a considerably higher rate of asylum seekers than the UK........

Not too sure about the rest of the EU ,but it seems Italy has a higher rate than us.Interesting .
