Yesterday, Carlos Alcaraz announced he was playing in the US Open.
Today, Jannick Sinner has announced that he isn't. What a strange couple of days.

Has there been an increase in injury withdrawals by big names in tennis in recent years or is it recency bias on my part?
I don't recall seeing the big names of long gone days being absent much, Sampras, Agassi, Lendl, Federer always seemed to play week in week out during their respective careers whereas now it seems there's a big name/seed missing from every tournament.

Radacanu gets injured every tournament!!!!!
It's quite common in tennis, but I'm pretty sure there haven't been that many major withdrawals from the big stars in recent years. It feels like it's a bit more common all of a sudden.Dublin_Flyer wrote: ↑Fri Aug 21, 2026 9:19 pmHas there been an increase in injury withdrawals by big names in tennis in recent years or is it recency bias on my part?
