Affordability checks-withdrawals
Difficult to know really. In the current stupid climate of bookmaker/exchange mentality anything is possible. Is the withdrawal for a lot more than you usually make or is it a result of a large win?
I've heard stories mainly about bookmaker punters having a large win and the bookmaker then asking for an affordability check before payout!
Some operators may have the mentality that if you're withdrawing a large sum you may be in desperate need of it.
Maybe others on here may have recent experience and be able to advise you better.

I've never had any issues. I always keep withdrawals below £10k but I don't know if that makes any difference.
The forum has plenty of full-time traders who have made and withdrawn millions from Betfair markets. They might bust your balls, but they used to pay.
Personally I had a 140k withdrawal once. It was only 12 hours of processing time.

Be careful. I took a chunk withdrawal in April and they effectively killed my account. Paid me - but then gave me a 100, then down to 50, quid a month deposit limit. Have asked for payslips and savings - i showed them my house rental income and bank statements. They won't accept previous betfair trading profit as income.
So I got a job for 3 months, paid well (it was nights) sent the slips in with the statements to them and the next thing i get an email from 'dave in security' - he has been ringing me and said:
My name is Dave, and I am part of the Betfair team.
I just called the phone number ending *** registered to your account but was unable to leave a voicemail.
Thank you for your submission of documentation in support of the requested increase in monthly spend budget, unfortunately we will require a little more information and documentation to progress our review.
To err on the side of caution, account access has been paused until our review is complete.
Please reply to this email with a suitable date and time for us to call and discuss the next steps.

What REALLY gets me is they do this for 'player safety' - no u don't! U have done it cos u realise I never play your casino and only bet your boosts on the sports book! So u are gonna piss me around until I give up!'
Betfair, as most gambling firms, need to work out what they are - an exchange, a bookie or a casino/penny arcade. I GUARANTEE that at least 80% of the 'problem gamblers' have done their money on the casino, not on the sports book or exchange. In fact the GC need to actually step in and sort this out. Tell firms that they are 1 or tother. U cannot access the casino from the sports book site. But that would require some knowledge of the game they are supposed to regulate and would also definitely stop them issuing the over 20m in fines, that they did in 2025.
Finally - u may think that this is an uneducated rant - I should probably state that I held a bookmakers licence from 2004-2022 allowing me to stand at horse and dog meetings in the UK. And if i treated my punters like this, after nearly 25 years of loyalty, I would not blame them from telling me to eff off.

must admit this is quite worrying, although Betfair (Exchange pre Horse Racing) is a Side line for me and Hobby to bring in extra income as i dont do Renters no more. I am limited to £500 but thats ok havnt deposited anything in 10 months dont need to but the withdrawal part is a bit of a worry, perhaps Peter can do some Customer service digging

I cannot even access my Bet Angel front end as my account is 'suspended'.
But I can post on here. Madness!
