On Monday I was out and about and to avoid the rain I went into a William Hill shop. I had studied the opening Maiden Hurdle at Wetherby and had laid the favourite Wayward Glance win and place. I love opposing flat bred horses that have never jumped a hurdle in public especially ones that are unlikely to be fully wound up and also unlikely to see out the trip on what I believed to be unsuitable ground.
I arrived about 5 minutes before the race and saw the usual mugs writing out their £5 £10 and £20 win Fav tickets. One guy rushed in and had £50 win on it

I asked the girl behind the counter why the race wasn't being shown and she said "we're not bothering because most of them want to watch the dogs and the F1" I had to think about that - F1? I turned to the large screen as the next Virtual F1 race was preparing to start and watched in disbelief as multiple mugs ran to the counter to place their bets

There was then a lot of cussing and swearing as they all screwed up their betting slips.
I did have the last

They all told me I was lucky, etc etc and I just smiled inwardly and left the shop. I sent a text to a good friend about what I had seen and the reply summed it up "MADNESS!"
