I thought you had Chelsea down to win this year's PL! ;)

Man U are a shadow of their sides of recent years (see European performances) but are top of the league, which is testimony to the weakness of the league atm.

they always seem to get a penalty when they really need a break. i'd love to see the stats of penalties awarded to opposition teams at Old Trafford compared to every other side at home.

So would I, but only because it would demolish the notion that referees have a pro Man U bias! In socialist Britain, officialdom wants to make life difficult for winners, not help them keep on winning!

BTW, Liverpool must play very fairly at Anfield, as you rarely see a penalty being awarded in front of the Kop...

People say that, and they'll probably be saying it in a decade's time, when there are at least 10 significant new additions to the Old Trafford trophy cabinet... ;)

The last two years the team has not been anywhere near the standard of previous years. But credit to fergue for somehow still managing to win the league.

no way Jeff. history proves that all dominant powers ultimately wane and ManUre will be no different!

Ferguson hasn't got much longer at the top and look what happened to Forest after Clough declined.

I agree with that Frank

History shows that when clubs have had long standing managers, managers that have become club legends, they seem to have incredible difficulty in adjusting to life afterwards. The new manager has an impossible job. Brian Clough is a good example, but even Matt Busby's departure created a massive decline at Old Trafford - they were even relegated in 1974.
Anyone replacing Wenger might find it easier though, as he hasn't won a trophy for 7 years. That takes a bit of pressure off the new manager

It's called denial and lasts at least 3 years after the decline of a great team. The second step will be a decline of all the league clubs. That's what history tell us, but ofc the future has the same odds of being right or wrong.

I find relegation prices quite interesting.

There could be some value in having a wager on Aston Villa at 18.00

They're out of form, and their next 4 games are
Chelsea H
Liverpool A
Stoke H
Man Utd A

There's every chance they will pick up just 1 point and that 18 will become 7 or 8

They also have a very negative manager who specialises in relegation

I think that's a great call! I guess we also need some form from the current bottom three as well though.

Interesting sanalysis of penalties awarded to and conceded by Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool (not sure what they are doing in a "top 5" analysis!), City and United.

It's a year out of date but that shouldn't matter as we all know the pro United bias has been going on for decades

Interesting article in the Telegraph analyses all the incorrect "big" decisions made at Old TRafford this season.

This pro-United bias talk always makes me laugh - United recently lost the title following blatantly incorrect refereeing decisions at Old Trafford v Chelsea.
