I thought it was poorly rated and hence poor value at a low price. No such luck. It romped home and my head got taken offmugsgame wrote:Why did you lay it?Zenyatta wrote:hi,
First outright lay I took for a while, today I layed 'Parsip Pete' at 3.14 for 200 in the last at Haydock. It won and I lost 400.
A good remainder of why I shouldn't punt and neither should any newbie.
doing the do..
I'm afraid not Jeff, you read right, that's four hundered I lost. I'd been reading too much of 007s bullshit and lost my head.Ferru123 wrote:Please tell me you accidentally omitted a dot after the 4...Zenyatta wrote:hi,

Before you ask for money for your tips (cos I know this is coming)...I just wanted to say I'm Out
It's quite obvious that there a few on this forum who are not interested in what I'm doing.. but for those that have made constructive comments or given encouraging words, cheers.
And for those who have sent me PMs offering help, advice and good luck - that shows your class.
And the comment above regarding asking for money.. that shows the character of that person for all to see on a public forum. Same goes for blaming others for their own misjudgements.. best way to deal with those people is just to ignore them.. what goes around comes around.
I came to this forum looking for a way to get involved with the software etc and realized I didn't have the time nor expertise to get involved. But the laying seems to be going OK.. for how long, nobody knows. Another week? Or a month? Cheers again to those who made an effort to constructively help me. Laying might not be for beginners, but as the old Fun Boy Three song goes:
it's not what you do,
it's the way that you do it,
it's not what you say,
it's the way that you say it..
doing the do.. signing off

Imagine you're in the pub and there's a guy who's betting on the toss of an unbiased die at odds of 5.95.007 wrote:It's quite obvious that there a few on this forum who are not interested in what I'm doing.. but for those that have made constructive comments or given encouraging words, cheers.
What's your reaction going to be?
You might roll your eyes and think 'What an idiot' (which is what I do whenever I see someone on the slot machines in the bookies).
Or you might point out to him that, long term, he's fighting a losing battle with Lady Luck, and suggest he puts his money away before he loses it (depending on how big and hard the shark who's fleecing him looks!
Whatever you do, it's unlikely that you'll watch his unskilled battle against randomness with fascination, and for that reason I doubt there will be many people here who will be interested in hearing how you get on at laying randomly selected horses in an ultra-efficient market... But I could be wrong!
Jeff
Jeff, Think your barking up the wrong tree here fella.
You keep banging on about randomness. 007 has at no time said he is "blindly" or "randomly" Laying anything.
He he selecting his lays on his skill and judgment. Wether his skill and judgement is up to making a long term profit is up to the task is another thing.
This thread is bizarre. Never seen anything like it since I used to frequent the Betfair forum. Posting up lists of PL is just a cock show. Personally I am not interested in cock watching
007 - You're laying horses - good stuff. You asked people if you could make £25 a day doing it. Everyone has had their say.
Lets move on. Perhaps you chaps should advise 007 how to automate it all. So he can sit in the pub all afternoon like the rest of us?
Just saying......

Mugs
You beat me to it, I was posting something similar so I have scrapped it.
This isn't random laying, this guy is using his own judgement and only time will tell if he succeeds.
I am concerned we will descend to the level of other forums where vitriol is a prerequisite for joining!
Let it lie now, if you have nothing positive to add then add nothing.
Just saying!

I have read this thread periodically, and can see both points of view. As stated right at the beginning of your post 007. Yes you will win laying horses as I did when I was making upto £700 a day (some days)and I could go a week or more without a loss. I thought wow this is easy after all lots of horses lose and only one can win. Therefore odds are stacked in my favour. Speaking personally GREED then takes over. Not just by the size of the bets but the fact that you think why do 20 races that will take all afternoon when I could just go bigger and only do 10 races, then five etc. I even developed my only picking mechanism and it seemed to work (does this sound familiar). Then all of a sudden I hit a wall where I could only seem to pick winners and the enevitable happened. Bang! you are then playing catch up - and chasing your own tail. Soon, as my bank drindled, I started taking chances and the inevitable happened. If you are totally convinced you have an edge for God sake trade out of your position as soon as it goes green for say £20 or so and dont wait for the big £95 win that may not come. Just think about it this way, I have not come across a race that lasts longer than 6 minutes and some are only a third of that. So if you are on £20 for less than 6 minutes work why take the risk! Just my opinion thats all. I am now waiting and learning to find my edge and its hard but I am now suitably skilled to say £25 is easy but for more you have really got to stick to something that works with less of a risk than lay bets otherwise it will get you in the end. Good Luck though.
Malcolm - Whoops I have seen those results somewhere before. Yes they were mine a few months ago
