for years they had more than their fair share of decisions, penalties and added-on time (thanks to Fergie's intimidation of refs with his scary red face) so it will be good fun to see them struggle for a while. sorry Jeff.

United bottom half and just 3 points above the relegation zone
Those of us of a certain age will remember Fergie being in the same position. That infamous FA Cup match vs Forest had Man Utd in the bottom 6 in January!
Something tells me Moyes won't be given the same time as Fergie

I actually hope you're right re. Moyes, but I have a feeling that he will be given plenty of time.
One of the things Man U stressed when they appointed Moyes was that they saw him as a long-term replacement for Fergie, which kind of suggests that they will be forgiving of a bad run.
In fairness, it could be that the team are still getting used to the way Moyes wants them to play, but I wouldn't have thought it would take this long...

the unpredictability and simplicity of football is what makes it the world game.
for too many years big money has manipulated the fortunes of clubs and we've had the sorry situation of the top 4 clubs nearly always being the same ones - let's hope that changes in future and we see the decline of a couple of untouchables.
Di Canio for Man U!

Quite a few rumours circulating tonight that Moyes has already lost the dressing room. People "supposedly" ITK are suggesting his different training regime is not going down well, and the players don't have the same respect for him as Fergie.
Let's face it, Moyes was never a top player, and spent 11 years at Everton without a trophy. It's difficult to know what he can teach those United players really. I'm starting to think he'll do well to last the season

If those rumours are true, IMHO he needs to quickly win the players around or do the honorable thing and leave.
BTW, I think he scored an own goal by getting rid of Fergie's backroom staff. I mean, I thought one of the big arguments in favour of Moyes was that he'd bring continuity!
I wonder if the fact that Fergie is on the board of United is affecting the way players respond to Moyes. If wouldn't surprise me if he is taking decisions that previously only the manager took, and unwittingly undermining Moyes.

From the BBC:
'Manchester United have become only the second top-flight English champions, after Blackburn in 1995-96, to begin the following season with three (or more) defeats in their opening six matches since Leeds did so in the 1974-75 season.'
Leeds's poor start to the season resulted in the new manager (Brian Clough) losing his job, and Leeds got to the final of the European Cup that season, so there's hope for United yet!

Not sure these rumours are correct Letiss. The rumours I've been hearing is that he hasn't even found his way to the dressing room yet.LeTiss 4pm wrote:Quite a few rumours circulating tonight that Moyes has already lost the dressing room. Absolutely loving the fall from grace! Not that the mighty Bolton have much to sing about!
All teams (whether on the pitch or in the workplace) go through stages
see :-

One of the biggest mistakes is to take over a performing team and make instant changes.
Im sure that Moyes will have plenty of support and the players will be briefed on what to expect..

That could be part of it, but Moyes should have known better than to make some of the gaffes he's made, like saying Man U don't have enough world class players to win the Champions League.PeterLe wrote:All teams (whether on the pitch or in the workplace) go through stages
